Hi all,
Today I'm picking up my first firearm. I'm getting the glock 21-.45 a.c.p.
Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on this badboy? I'm very excited to start this new "expensive" hobby!

what's your history with guns? more importantly what is your history with hand guns?

Don't have much...shot my dads 22 back in the day...been doing a lot of research and spoke to a lot of close people who shoot regularly and decided on this piece.

It's a good gun no doubt. i might have steered you to a different caliber for your first real experience with a hand gun in a long time, but im sure you will be fine. what do you plan on using it for?

mostly shooting range, but of course home defense...I mean i've got the runaround about the different makes out there, and although I haven't shot myself, I've already become a little loyal to the glock name...I'm already planning what my next toy will be after this one...

Ive always liked guns that are functional as well as sexy. a glock has reliability and functionality to spare, but there is no sexiness to it. it is really a rather ugly gun. If i was a cop im sure i would own one

Good reliable fire power. I'm not a Glock fan myself, but those who know and love Glocks, say the 21 is a great gun. Enjoy...until you see what the cost of .45 is these days.....

Agreed. If he had asked before the purchase, would have recommended the 9mm, but too late now...

Note he didn't say different brand of gun, he said caliber of gun. Glocks were designed to fire the 9mm and that's what they do best, but they also come in all the other common calibers as you found out.

so true....so true.....:wits:

For a case of 1000 on sale of white box at Dick's Sporting Goods, it cost me $330.00. Holy crap!

Because I can get .40 for free (don't ask), I am looking to have a .40 1911 built, which would pay for itself within a year or less of regular shooting for me.

I can't answer that on a public forum, but it's not some trick or anything I am keeping from you that you could repeat or anything. :dont:

I am veyr much so open to other gun makes...I just knew that with my gun collection I definitely wanted to have at least one or so glocks...I was also considering the springfield armory xd series, and I like the 1911's...but I think after I've had fun with the glock, more along the lines of xmas time, im going to get my first rifle if the opportunity is right...rifles I need more help with as I don't know as much about them...also while were on this, what brand ammo should I use? what are your preferences?

when it comes to target loads i buy the cheapest stuff i can find on sale. for hunting I hand load.

For what uses? For general range work, Winchester White box works well in my guns. I used PMC, made by Remington recently, and my guns didnt like it. So much for saving a few $$$. :(

For self protection, the brands that test the best, which are carried by most LEO depts these days, are Spear Gold Dot and Winchester SXT. Don't fall for hyped "super ultra high tech" BS ammo sales marketing. It's not unlike the supplement industry....

Always treat every gun like it is loaded
Never point a gun at anything you can't afford to shoot
Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
Check your back drop

Glock is an excellent choice.

I'm trying to part with a GOVT 10mm right now,
and one of the guys I work with, told me he wouldn't buy it because
he's using nothing but single mech autos...

Every handgun he has is now a Glock of different size and caliber.

(I wouldn't do that, but shows you how much they are loved)

I personally have always prefered H&K
for the way they are put together, but mostly the feel.

I might be sporting a P2k w/.40 SW Air Freedoms

i like taurus as i have said before. recently picked up a baby eagle. i have not had a chance to take it out yet. i am really not a fan of glocks, i dont like the look or feel of the gun.

brought the .45 home last night...I can't wait to unload some rounds...ammo was around 20 bucks a box...i'm already looking into my next one, yea I know im being really anxious here but i've got a lot of catching up to do..does anyone have any feedback on the springfield armories new xd models?

The XD gets very high marks, as does the new SnW MnP. Both are highly rated guns if you like polymer guns, eg, Glocks etc.

springfield armories has made good guns in the past.
