I work as a paramedic 6pm-6am about 3 to 4 days a week. I'm trying to figure what would be the best time for me to work out. I sleep during the day and am active at night.

Maybe after work?

Really it is up to you. Whatever time is going to allow you to be the more consistent and stick to it.

I think you should work out after job just like the bulk of us.

if your 3-4 days of work are not consecutive i would just recommend working out on your days off if that is possible...

otherwise after work would probably be the best so long as your intesity doesnt suffer

Are you able to take a nap at work?

... was that a serious question?

yes im able to sleep at work. the only problem i have with my days off is that i still sleep during the day, granted theres more time on off days. my real problem is getting back into working out after 3yrs off.
i used to workout hard, going from 175lbs to 220lbs and cutting down from 26%bmi to 7%bmi. i ended up tearing my pec. which i didnt realize how bad it was until i kept lifting and after 2 months of pushing through soreness my left arm gave out. nothin like a doc telling you not to touch any weights for 6 months. after that i went back to school and havnt picked up crap but beer and a gut.

I don't think that after work is for people that work long shifts of emotionally draining work. Days off, IMHO. Pick a time after chores on you days off. Not to early after waking up.

i think 3-4 good days a week is plenty, on days off or not

remember the majority of your progress, particularly in removing that gut (if it still exsists) will come from diet

honestly i think whenever it is comfortable for you to workout is the best time

lol i have emotionally draining work.. =\ ha 8hours a day so not anything like overtime or anything but still sucks.. lol i'm tired as heck when i go to the gym but it's the only time that i can go so EHH ha better than not going at all... i still get good workouts and run miles haha

I think the rush hours at gym are between 5pm and 23pm, so you can train untroubled whenever you go. That is your advantage.
If you can take a nap during work it would not be difficult to you to put up with your long 12 hours working day not only if you train before work but also if you do it after work.

As IainDaniel said, it is up to you. You should choose the time that allows you to be the more consistent and you must stick to it.

The important stuff is training, no matter when.
