When is the best time to Exercise, morning, afternoon or evening. after meal or before meal.

Thanks

For me I like to work out in the morning. Because i am a little on the heavy side. Most people would say anytime is a good time, only if you make it consistent.

I would say in the evening as you have had all day to fill up your fuel tank and then shortly after you will be sleeping.

60-90 minutes after a meal of 60-100g of complex carbs and 30-50g protein, that's my sweet spot. :ohyeah:

Some folk do fasted workouts, I can't do that. Makes me feel so weak.

Depends on what you're shooting for I reckon. Is there A BEST time? Nah. Just do work.

Addendum: I prefer evenings as well for the same reason. I can slowly carb up all day if I know I'm going to have a heavy leg day or something.

I am simply just not a morning person so getting motivated to do anything in the morning is rough. I prefer evenings. Pre workout meal about 45 minutes before workout. Then post workout meal right away. But thats what works for me.

If you workout too close to bedtime you might have trouble sleeping.

when ever your feeling it !!! hit it hard...

I still say whenever you are most energized. I can't stand early morning workouts. I am more lethargic, period. So, psyhiological rationale be damned, if I can't put forth serious effort, then it makes any science behind a "best" time a moot point.

True that. I almost always train soon after getting up due to scheduling reasons.

However...

When I was at school I would train in the afternoon or evening, and I always felt more awake, aware and positive. Morning workouts often have an overtone of drudgery to them, but they get the job done.

Hi Kobb,

in my opinion is not about morning or afternoon, it depends from you day and how busy you are and what you do, I usually exercise at lunch time, what I do instead of going for lunch I go to the gym, and I eat my sandwich sitting at my desk, I usually like to eat 1 hour before going to the gym, and then again about 1 hour after I finished I get really hungry and eat again..

I hear ya man. Even more important than doing it when you are most energized is doing it at a time you can consistently get the work done. I've worked out at any range of times from 4AM getting up early before a flight, or going for a run at 2AM because the day was so busy I had no choice. I do it when I can, but if I have choices, then I avoid mornings.

Consistent times are good.

One of my flaws it that I am a fairly inflexible person when it comes to training scheduling. I tend to go a little mad when my regiment gets disturbed. However, that inflexibility is also a prime contributor to why I stay in the game.
