Too lateI'm not trying to be a dick here, but why don't you get a job? You act like you are incapable of paying rent and bills.

Totally agree, especially if I know it's a student.
Spot-on post, sox. Spot-on.
And P.S. soxmuscle,
I do get the impression that you have writing talent. Even though this is a casual forum, you've got the knack.
You noted you were into poetry.
I hope you are still working on poetry (and/or writing) if it interests you.

news flash get a new jobI get what he means but I have a job and work a shit ton, and I have never made $500 dollars in a month.
One of the restaurants that I applied to as a waiter... one of the young kids basically took me aside on my way out of the sit-down meeting with the manager/owner and told me "if you don't have a set of tits, you're not going to be hired." I tend to think it was my lack of serving experience which made me ineligible for the gig, but every time I go to that restaurant, I'm not shocked to see that every waitress is super hot.
it's pretty much always been that way when it comes to being a waiter/waitress. My sister is 2 years older than me and in HS she used to waitress on the wknds she was very busty had the typical "dancers" body @ 5'10 as she took ballet, tap, jazz, etc. for her whole life. she used to bring home $500 a shift and this was back in the mid 80's.

It gets a hell of a lot tougher after you graduate. My advice to you is to learn how to make money and support yourself now. My situation forced me to provide for myself during my university years. It was scary and tough. I did the restaurant thing for about 6 months or so before realizing that I would never clear more than $800.00 a month even if I worked full time. I had a major case of culture shock and anxiety over trying to be a 17 year old adult.
I'm sure it's this way at every restaurant.
If I owned a restaurant, cup size and body dimensions would be mandatory on the application. And males wouldn't even be considered for the job.
PS: The names Justin, put it in the good word with your sister.

I've always tried to please everybody, putting other people ahead of myself, but it's getting to the point that financially, I just can't do that any more.

I finished in 2003 and I was averaging $250 per book, and I'm sure they've went up since then.
Is it worth the costs? Absolutely not.
... Was it worth $60k in debt? Absolutely not, it was fun but it didn't make me better at doing what I do.
This shit hits home with me. I'm 22 and trying to finish my degree in Env. Science. My goal was to get out of school without any debt. I started and dicked around because I didn't know what I wanted to do so I got an AA in Drafting and Design. I've been working at an engineering firm for 4 years now. Right now I'm full time. During school I still have to maintain 30hrs a week to retain my full time benifits (Bonuses, Insurance, etc..). The problem is I'm not trying to drag out my education. Luckily I can take one online class this semester to let me work more and maintain full time status but I will not be able to do that as I go into my upper level classes.
I have about 60 hours +- left on my degree so I'm about halfway there. I already have enough money to pay for tuition for next semester. I plan to stack enough money this summer to try and pay for the rest of my college education (I'm thinking about $12k). Granted this is just tuition though.
My problem is this. I really want to get this done as soon as possible. If I take 12hrs per semester there's no way I can juggle school and work full time. Another problem is logistics. Work and home is 45min away from school so that eats up some time right there.
I'm not really sure what I want to do. I'm going to need money to live on but at the same time deep down I really want to quit work, go full time at school and knock it out. College life isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Go every other semester then? Yes it will take longer but if you already have a good job, who cares at this point?
I worked every other semester my last two years of school. When in school I worked 3 days a week while taking classes 2 days a week and this allowed me to pay as I went for my bachelors.
Shit i'm not trying to be a lifer at college. I really want to crank it out ASAP. I'll be stuck in my current position at work until I come up with a degree. It's not bad pay $14/hr, but it's not enough to really live on and I can do better.
Is it worth the costs? Absolutely not. I believe education is one of the best things you can give yourself, I am not too sure that college is the way to go. I don't currently work directly in the field I work in, and most of the stuff I learned that make me successful were things I picked up way after college. Sure, I believe the psychology stuff helped out as one of the biggest skills most people don't have these days are people skills. Was it worth $60k in debt? Absolutely not, it was fun but it didn't make me better at doing what I do.
So I have 36 hours left to complete my B.S. in mathmatics.
Go for it? or Drop it?
Also, I have 12k debt right now, a FT job @ 11$/hr.
My mom has about 11k debt for Parent plus loans.
I really want to finish because i'm so bored with life as is.
