Shroomin'

Morrell's are tasty though. I had friends who picked them in Washington, but don't know of any here as I've never picked them myself. You'd think with all the cow pastures, etc., there would be some around here once in awhile.

I hunt morrells too. They are much trickier to find than trippy mushrooms. Unless you have your own personal spots you check every year you could be on a wild goose chase. Dead apple trees and elms are a good place to start too.. Definately never found new patches on flat ground. Always hillsides. Delicious.

They are great with steak and eggs. My favorite of all fungi I would say.

Yeah, they are quite good. I just moved so I don't have any spots where I live. I usually used the same spot my dad did every year, but since I moved I probably won't be going back just for morrells. I think someone has bought that land too, and won't let people go on it. You can still do it, but it's tricky.

YOu think they're harder to find than the good ones? Hell maybe I need to put my work to good and go get fucked up. I can find morrells all day long. I've NEVER found a shroom shroom.

I don't know what to look for though. I know they bruise purple and you can take spore prints that's about it.

I should spend less time in the woods, fishing, and gym and concentrate on my school work.

There's a lot worse things you could be doing though. The gym is definitely good. I'm hoping to get back in the next month or so if my leg continues to heal good. I have not been fishing in ages - would love to go.

Well some of my room mates family lives real close to Lake of the Ozarks. I don't think there are any super big lakes around here though :(

Man the fishing is amazing around these parts. I have 7 local lakes that I can go on. One is even stocked with rainbows.

If the lakes suck go walk the creek and do a little small mouth fishing.

Crappie in the spring. Oh i'm getting a boner while I'm writing this.

See jlacap for help with that boner.

The last time I went fishing in Arkansas it was on Bull Shoals lake, which I think is one Missouri and Arkansas. A buddy took me there and told me the crappie limit was 10" which it's 9" on most lakes in MO. At first I thought it was stupid and we wouldn't catch any that were 10", but the smallest one we caught was 10 1/2" and the biggest one was caught by my buddy which was 13". I think we caught about 40 between us. We also caught some of the biggest perch I've ever seen.

Definitely the best tasting fresh water fish you'll ever eat. When we cook them we only fry them in peanut oil.

If I wanted Beerlike symptoms I would just drink beers. Fuck a whole buncha chewin roots.
but it wont make you stupid, sick and feels much better and with no hangover.
nothing like kava :-P

Honestly I wouldn't know what to look for either if you're in a different region. There's about 100 different species of hallucenogenic fungus out there. If you're interested then google the types in your area and start the hunt.

You're getting me chubby talkin about it too. They stock rainbow and golden trout starting in march here.

Its close between bluegill and crappie. Flip a coin.

Im a fan of crappie fishing but Im a sucker for the smallmouth. My god i cant wait till April.

Yeah, but bluegill generally tend to be pretty small around here. For the most part, usually not even big enough to bother cleaning, but I have caught some nice ones in Bull Shoals lake in S. MO / N. Ark.

All the small mouth bass around here seem to have worms.

Worms? Does raw sewage run into the water or something? Never heard of that.

Something like that. There are cow pastures all along the Osage River and it's forks. You can catch them all day long, but they are not fit to eat. I don't live in that area anymore so maybe I can find a better spot.

Actually I wanted to finish college and the University of Central Missouri is right here. I had my old room mates from a long time ago that I used to live with in Springfield invite me up to stay as well. They just bought a huge house and are pretty much letting me live here rent-free while I go to school as they already have really good jobs anyway, and are not very materialistic people anyhow. I also wanted to get out of the town I was living in so it's a win/win/win situation.

Yep. I was born in poplar bluff. Missouri is as country as it gets. A lot of farms and sluts that want to get pregnated. I visit my relatives that's about it. it's great to visit, but southern Missouri is just too boring.

Yeah especially the Southeast part. In the Southwest you got Springfield which is a little better. I think I've only been to Poplar Bluff once, and never had any reason to go back.

I went to boot camp in Missouri in 99. Only time ive ever been there and it definitely wasnt for pleasure. It was hot as a mofo.

Ft. Wood is another shithole.

Cant believe there is a conversation about MO and no one has mentioned crystal meth yet. There are fucking tweakers everywhere. And it seems like it's right when you hit the border. It's weird.

Bluegill and crappie are close but the bluegills aren't worth cleaning. The crappie get much bigger.

I've never heard of worms in smallies before either. I normally don't keep fish though. Once a year we go on a yo-yoing trip and stock the freezer with catfish and crappie.

The meth problem isn't nearly as big up here where I just moved to - thank god. Tweekers everywhere in SW MO.

The bigges bluegill I've caught were in Bull Shoals right on the MO/ARK border. I think they were around 10" each, and we caught 2 of them that big. We caught several smaller ones which we let go.

Dudes. Ive watched documentaries on how bad the meth problem is in MO, and Tenn but wouldnt you think it would be really bad here in WV. Drug of choice for the fuckups around here is Oxycontin without a doubt. Its an epidemic like meth is where you are. I just dont understand why. Oxy is the most expensive pill there is. Its a dollar a milligram if you are lucky.
