If your intensity and weight are high, you should be exhausted after you complete your sets. IMO you need to train more ferociously or push more weight.

If you think getting a pump or feeling sore are indicators of a good workout it's obvious you need to use your head more. Your heart doesn't think, it's too busy pumping blood to the muscles you're inflicting needless pain on.

Train smarter. Do a little research and design a method of periodization and progression that doesn't rely on bro-training and actually gives you tangible measurable results.

The gym is a place for science applied with the boundless determination of a conscious mind. Save the feral sado-masochism for the bedroom.

I do agree also realised today that i have to leave my ego behind and concentrate on proper form i know its basic stuff but it can make a lot of difference in isolation i learned that more than ever today! actually used nearly half the weight i usually do (just to switch things up) and really concentrated on isolation and was pretty intense it worked a treat.. obviously i wont be sticking with low weight high reps forever but for the time beeing i feel like thats what my bodys saying! got to add this is only with free weights exersices to concentrate on form and isolation with the machines i go heavy as they are pretty much designed not to allow people to use incorrect form in generall.. dam this game is just one giant learnin curve!

When you grow up you have to drink beer yadda yadda.

But seriously, don't sweat the soreness/pump thing too much. Plan out what you want to do and stick with it. The more you ad lib stuff on the end of your workouts when you're in the gym the more chance you have of fucking it up.

Until theres a higher number on the PR board or the scales you haven't achieved dick, and neither of those things have anything to do with how painful your sessions are.

Keeping track of those numbers is far more important than subjective things like how big your muscles feel today

Very true buddy, i do keep track and basically all my lifts have and are increasing and my weight is slowly but surley going up aswell..i guess the whole soreness pump thing is mentall more than anything i mean do you think some muscles are pre disposed to feel the "pump" more then others i dunno i just feel as clique as it sounds but i need bigger arms my back chest shoulders ect are growing at a good rate i think my bi's are lacking behind a bit! plus my left is about half inch smaller then the right when tensed which annoys the shit outta me! i tried switching up my bi's routine today and tried something totally different mainly lower weight but higher volume/reps with strict form got a unreal "pump" one i have not had in a while or maybe ever my arms felt like balloons lol felt real good and my usuall routine consists of heavyer weights and less reps but i never get a pump like i did today maybe its my biceps way of telling me there too used to my usually training method and its time i just switched to less weight more volume/reps for a short while like ive said before its always good to alternate from high rep low weight to low rep high weight every now and then to mix things up!

I drink at least a quart a day...it is a staple of my protein and caloric consumption.

Yeah was just kidding i love the stuff cant beat a ice cold pint of milk!

You can go to the grocery store and curl a can of soup until they kick you out and you'll get a hell of a pump.

For the most part, the pump is not an indicator of improvements in performance or growth. Forget about it.

way to piss on my bonfire lol!

do you not agree that sometimes its better to switch things up tho not for the pump necessarily thats just a bonus but to shock the muscle a bit...

Shocking the muscle is necessary to grow but a pump is not. There are many ways to shock your body. I usually just change up what exercises I do often. IE bench press one week to db press to db press on a stabilizer ball shit like that.

Yeah this, I never waste a work out now, I do what I got to do also to gat a pump, tear my muscles up, lighter weights, drop sets, ect. Its how I stay so damm sexy !

:daydream: I'm in love with this man!

For real. You're repeating a cliche, jimm. The heart doesn't think. Your head is doing the thinking. And your head is right. To think some other part of you has any other influence then, yes I know it's figurative but still...you're basically just saying you're confused. Learn what you want to do and build your program to accomplish that goal. Track your results and adjust accordingly. Science. If you know what you're supposed to be doing, you do that and get the hell out of the gym so you an set yourself up for the other more important 23 hours. You don't base science on emotions and ego(left brained) based insecurities.

IMO, a pump is very necessary for allowing the muscle to grow. The more of a pump you get while you work out, the more the fascia (which limits the size and shape of the muscle) will stretch out, and the more room for the muscle to grow.

cheers for you input, theres alot of mixed opinions on the whole "pump" thing but theres one thing i do know it feels damn good! Its obvious the pump alone will not get your muscles to grow like some 1 said u could lift bean cans for hours to get a pump its not rocket science its adding the weight slowly over time that will force ur muscles to grow i know that, but you made a good point!
