They have made music since then.

Can't believe people actually listened to that shit.

80s music kicks ass! Most of the music today is inspired from the 80's. If there are any deejays, such as myself, you shhould know the 80's paved the way for almost all breabeats, and modern hip hop! Some of it sucked obviously, but the 80's produced some dope shit!!! just my opinion.

we didn't have any choice...MTV was a whole different station back then, all they played was videos, and everyone had one or several...

Here you go, this is more your speed.

I don't listen to pop music. That includes bubblegum shit from the 80's.

That's not a positive mark for 80's music.

80's music is the best music! Good times are always had when you put on old 80's favorites.

Some GNR is ok. I don't know anything about Megadeth but that song was monotonous as hell.

the 80's was cheesy as hell, and we all loved it!

Correct on both counts.

In the 80s the variety of music exploded. It was also very positive and uplifting. Not so much of the angsty suck of the 90s.

I'd give reps for the pop, and metal if I could. That was the music I grew up with, my first boombox and all!

No matter how shitty an era of music is, after about 20 years when people who experienced it as the music of their youth become old enough to be nostalgic you'll hear its praise. I tend not to think in terms of decades of music because whatever was popular at a given time was really irrelevant to me. I listen to a good distribution of music from the present back to the 20's. I don't feel any need to defend or promote a decade of music as a whole.

I didnt really care for the 80's pop music growing up, i listened mostly to rock and hair bands. But now I like listening to alot of New wave. That stuff is classic.

I love all that crappy 80's music! :D

Wife and I were on a cruise this past November. I won the 80's music trivia contest on the ship. I rule.

Some of it is really good and some of it is really bad.

I'm not saying that there is no good music outside of the 80s, but it was, in several ways, a decade like no other.

The reason I started this thread, in addition to the above point, is that the music of the aughties has for the most part been about as interesting and exciting as a slice of white bread. Especially in contrast to all that went on in the 80s and 90s.

The variety in the 80's was awesome too.

Billy Joel, MJ, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Cure, Talking Heads, Queen, Salt N Pepa, Police, Styx, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Prince, Lionel Ritchie, Wang Chung, New Edition.......

Just in those groups listed about look at the number of genres there are......

This video has stuck in my mind from the 80's MTV era more than any other...
