Ok so i would like to be part of a Bodybuilding Contest next year and would like to start training intensively for it.

However i would like someone that is knowledgeable, has a track record and of course can also recommend cycles.

So where can someone go to find out? also Is it rude or bad to just ask a trainer str8 forward of they give tips on Gear?

I live in miami, fl so i would like someone done here in Miami-Dade County or Broward COunty? Thanks!

just walk up to biggest guy at the gym and tap him on the shoulder. then when he confronts you, tell him you know the truth. and you want some of his juices. If he doesnt cripple you on the spot you have a chance. Good luck and post back.

lol......great idea guys......

no but really, anyone kno where to look? any help?

or mybe you can refer me to someone who might know.

thanks for the help...

the internet is your best bet for suggestions on cycles.

Man I guess you could just find a trainer and then ask them if that's what you want to do. Even if they aren't cool with it, I mean, what can they really do?

so anyone has actually useful information?

The one and only time I had a trainer, I asked him about dieting, supplementing, and gears. You know what he told me? "I get paid separately for that." What a fucking asshole!!! Needless to say I stopped after just one session. Fucker.

i would do a bunch of research on what cycle you want and then find a trainer. just tell him your wanting to do a contest and your ON cycle... just see what he says... i WOULD NOT ask him about a cycle source at any point! but i have some buddys that get their gear from trainers they met. good luck and keep us posted.

Victor Martinez gave his client who happened to be an undercover juice AND rolls. I want that kind of trainer.

I would start by going to some of the local shows and get to know people in the area. Talk to the competitors, find out who their trainers are. You can check the NPC show schedule for local shows - there are quite a few so you should have some options of nearby shows. Use that to start networking. Talk to the trainers you'd be interested in working with. Don't get sold on working w/ the first guy who asks you for money. IMO its important to work w/ someone you click with. Also understand the cost / pricing - some do nothing but prep which is slightly different than just "personal training". Also talk about the show you want to target to get an idea of where you need to start doing "prep". You miay have time to do some 'off season'. Also doing your first show can be a whole new experience - a good trainer will help you deal w/ that but you need to commit to them to not fuck around with the diet. You either do it 100% or don't bother. Also make sure you've got someone who can help you w/ your posing. After all the work, what's the point of getting on stage if you have no idea how to pose?

Another way to get in touch w/ trainers, at least those in the area, is to contact the promoter(s) of local shows and see if they can network you to someone. Peter Potter is the primary promoter in SE Florida, tho there are other promoters as well.

And you can also go w/ online trainers. Someone I've been particularly impressed w/ is Shelby Starnes - tho he's in Detroit and currently moving out to the Bay Area... that might be too much of a long distance. I don't know what cost considerations you have, but IMO it is really helpful to have someone around to guide you thru the prep process, the posing and the "how to do a show". But also as your first show, you may discover you don't even like doing this and would be happy just "lifting" so you may not want to dorp heavy buckage. Working w/ pros can get expensive - also a thought.

As far as the juice part - just starting w/ meeting some trainers and letting them see where you are and you conveying that you have (hopefully) a solid background in training and cycling already will establish that this is part of the discussion. If you're targeting an NPC show, chances are all of this will imply that this is part of the protocol you'd like to include. You can also get more of a sense of where the trainer is coming from (and if their protocol includes juice and they produce good results ) by looking at their clients at shows.

I used to live in Broward - back in the day there were lots of pros down there, but not so much anymore.

Some people that come to mind:
Bill Wilmore (pro'd in 2005) - Bill is a great guy - I'm not sure where he is w/ personal training these days tho - I believe he trains in Ft. Lauderdale
Mark Alivis recently opened a Pro Nutrition store in Delray Beach -http://www.theusachamp.com/welcome.html

Yo, to be honest if a trainer is roped for gear he/she will have their PT cert stripped. Im a trainer here in Miami but Im not that knowledgeable on gear as these fine ladies and gentlemen here on this terrific forum are.

What contest are you doing? Shit, maybe we can train together. I could compete if I really wanted to.

BTW what are your stats?

Good luck bro. :winkfinger:

To be honest, most "prep coaches" are probably not certified PTs. And conversely most certified personal trainers know little or nothing about competition prep. The target audiences of these two groups of people are slightly different. Of the two, I would look for a very seasoned prep coach. Half of what they need is the ability to eyeball your progress and adjust the protocol (diet, training, cardio, supps) according to progress, and especially, they need to know how to manage the last week protocol very well. IMO a lot of this comes very simply from experience and working w/ so many different people & situations.

Certified personal trainers, unless they actually hold a dietician qualification, are not technically allowed to give diets. People who look for prep coaches assume they are going to be going into some extreme dieting (many newb competitors will immediately tell you "I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKE!"). I"ve had prep coaches who have you sign a waiver and some who don't. Most gyms will not allow their trainers to sell "diets" because of the liabilty. Again, slightly different target audience.

Gear as well as diet is kind of an individual experience/experiment, and I'd have doubts on a local chum being able to give sound advice on gear even if they were willing to do so.

If you have the discipline to follow through, there are several names available on the internet to do so at a distance. But I think the diet is more complex than timing your masteron/winny or what have you.

Thanks for all the help guys and gals, Taking SASSY's advise i decided to email the Vice-President in charge of the NPC for Southern States. He Already emailed me back, with the owner of a gym who competed for like 15 years. i also Emailed another promoter who also competed and can help.

That was great advice SASSY and i really appreciate it. I also am going to attend the 2011 NPC event in July here in Broward and network some more till i find the person i click with.

i am not mentioning anything about gear just yet, i am going to feel them out, and if they are not gear friendly then i will just get help here from you guys. so i dont think it is a big deal.

I dont know exactly what contest i will be doing but this is just a goal i have had to be in one. so its something i am doing ideally for me.

Thanks again.
