ITS ABOUT TIME LIBERALS ARE FINISHED

Rep. Anthony Weiner has informed friends that he's stepping down from Congress, the New York Times first reported Thursday morning. The AP has confirmed the departure.
Multiple news outlets report that Weiner will publicly announce his decision at a press conference Thursday. NBC reported just before the news broke that Weiner's staff appeared to be packing up the congressman's office this morning. NBC's Alex Moe reports that two staff members and two interns left the office with their belongings, turned off the lights and locked the door.
Weiner's move was widely expected in the face of increasing pressure from colleagues as well as the public amid growing scandal over the New York Democrat's lewd online communications with multiple women.
Last week, Weiner admitted he had lied about his dealings with women he had met online--but insisted he wouldn't resign. On Saturday, his office announced he had entered "treatment," after top Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, publicly called on him to leave Congress.
Weiner had previously indicated that he wished to speak with his wife Huma Abedin, who is pregnant with the couple's first child, before deciding on his political future. Abedin returned to Washington yesterday following a trip to Africa with her boss Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
House Democrats today were scheduled to meet to discuss potential next steps to punish the New York congressman, including possibly stripping him of his committee assignments (he currently sits on the powerful House Energy and Commerce as well as the Judiciary committee), and expelling him from the Democratic caucus.
The scandal, which first broke three weeks ago continued to deepen this week.
Just yesterday, porn star Ginger Lee held a press conference to announce that the congressman had asked her to lie about their online communications. "I think that Anthony Weiner should resign because he lied to the public and the press for more than a week," Lee said.
Weiner was asked about his Twitter communications with Lee when the scandal broke; he told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Lee probably received "pro-forma" messages from his account and that was all.
Lee claims Weiner sent her specific messages about his "package." She had previously shared her communications with Weiner with the site TMZ.
Lee hired celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred to make her case to a national audience and multiple news outlets report that an Atlanta strip club was already using the scandal to promote her appearance at their venue Wednesday night.

One democrat steps down and liberals are finished? What sort of brain damage do you have that causes such absolute and irrational thinking? You didn't chew on paint chips, did you?

liberals are far from finished. I wish more would step down then our country may stand a chance.

This here. Also include the far right. What is needed are middle of the road thinkers who have the brain capacity to think beyond extreme politics because clearly neither extreme is capable of doing anything beyond lining their own pockets.

If tweeting your schwantz pics to young coeds is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

This pervert also made a deal in congress that he will have some kid of a job so he has a secure future for him and his family in politics because he didnt need to step down at all. But they would of got rif of his district come re-election time. Thats why it took this long a handshake in the back room type deal

Who cares about her motive? She's a porn star. That sort of says it all right there. If there wasn't any sort of potential for money odds are she wouldn't be in the spotlight. That's money in way of payoff from politicals or commanding more money in the porn business.

does the fact that Gloria Alred (bull dyke) is representing her surprise anyone?......she follows TMZ around waiting for cases to take

she is nothing but a publicity whore

That doesn't mean she is morally degenerated.:D

Of course not. It's a legitimate trade and she's a highly talented artist; a woman I'd love to bring home to mum and have raise my children.

It's one thing to be double plugged every now and again by strangers, but to receive an unsolicited tweet like that must have been traumatizing.

funny because conservative presidents are historically the ones always running up the deficit...

across the globe the country's with the most liberal governments are the happiest...

Yet she is the one who is giving emails to TMZ...even let them post a seductive picture of her in the article, she craves the attention but doesn't want it? Fucking cocktease galore....

Exactly! Look at Greece, UK, Canada, and other countries that are having to cut back on unsustainable social benefits. The people are so ecstatic that they are smashing store windows and fighting with riot police, in the streets, just for shits and giggles.

I guess I'd be happy to with a 35hr work week, a guaranteed retirement at 55, and a life-long pension, if I knew for certain that it was sustainable.

and why are those social benefits unsustainable?

the real GDP of all OECD countries have been steadily declining since adopting neo-liberal economic policies in the 70's. the national share of income going to those that make wages from labor are shrinking due to privatization across all OECD countries. those that still are employed are doing so with stagnant wages which are effected more by inflation.

inflation that is created and controlled by the FRB in the US and central banks in other countries which causes those that the bottom to rely more on banking institutions and living in constant debt.

economics isn't rocket science, it's rather easy to figure out. try reading ITU standards, now that's a real challenge.

Without the private sector, who is going to provide the tax revenue to prop up those unsustainable social programs? The revenue is not generated by the public sector. The govt does not have the ability to create wealth. It only has the ability to confiscate the wealth that you and I generate through our labour.

well let's take the US as one example. they are paying the lowest amount of corp taxes in 65 years yet they are recording RECORD PROFITS. in 2010 US corps payed an effective tax rate of 5% and in 2009 it was even lower at 1%.

ya think this may be a small problem?

50% of the US doesn't pay federal income tax, mainly because of stagnant wages across most job sectors. so the federal tax burden falls on big corps but their tax rates have also been decreased to record low levels. every-time the "people" got a tax break so did big corps, so it was pretty much a wash.

this is why the budget deficit will never go away and it will never be balanced in the US, it only needs to be controlled. the reduction of entitlements will only be a very, very short time temporary fix. the budget deficit only needs to be reduced to a sustainable rate equal to that of real GDP growth.

however this will never be accomplished with an ever expanding military complex which spreads "democracy" the precursor for capitalism. only big corps benefit from that but they don't even pay the tax burden on it, it falls back on those at the bottom of the income ladder by reductions in entitlements.

anybody that thinks times are bad now, the country your children's children grow up in is going to have ZERO opportunity for economic advancement unless there are some radical changes in how our society operates.
