Im going to hell for this but maybe they can use her as a finisher to a game by using her as a ball and shoot her out of cannon.

True. Plus, if she can get around in that chair by blowing in a tube, she could prolly play a mean trumpet. Just a thought. Baseball might be an option also. She could be home base. Shit, I'm goin' to hell. lol

WOW, I loved both of your posts in this thread. It's nice to see ones heart. It is very sad. I also see both sides. Poor girl.

Thanks for the thread Curt, it gives me many more reason to count my blessings.

Definitely makes me grateful for what I have.

Can't go off-topic? Really? I've always enjoyed some constructive thread drift.

Fwiw, it was context and quantity as much as profanity. I've never seen an actual "rule book" either, so it's also a judgment call.

"this dumb [expletive deleted]. lawsuit is imminent. this world is full of [expletive deleted] and PC [expletive deleted]. [expletive deleted], you can do it, dont be a [expletive deleted]."

Pushed my censor buttons.

Haha gotcha. I'm not trying to bust balls, I was just curious.

Curt James you SON OF A BITCH!!!... I just want to say thanks for ruining my Friday night. Ugh I may get flamed and made fun of for this but I don???t care-

This is the saddest most depressing story I've read in awhile. I feel so bad for her like I kind of really started to tear up at my desk at work.

I can see both sides of it too, you're a fool and naive if you really believe that crap about you can do whatever you want in life if you just try hard enough blah blah blah. She clearly isn't capable of performing the duties that cheerleaders normally do. She can't. (PERIOD!) We are all limited in some way.

However this isn't a caveman civilization and we can make concessions for people and if she feels she's being discriminated against, that they could work her into the squad somehow and actually use her she's kind of right. They could work her into the routine....

I think the point is this is fucking sad... to be born without legs and arms?? live your whole life like that? ugh poor girl. seriously I feel so bad for her. that's just sad....life is so shitty and unfair sometimes. I wish she didn???t have to go through that.

Control yourself jimmy, your emotions are taking over. :coffee:

i can see the upset for you awhites1 but c'mon not like she was the only one there was loads of people that didn't make it, but really think of what a cheerleader dose jump up and down waving there arm's around how is she gonna do that in a wheelchair...

but every time i see "The wheelchair user did not make the team after she received a low score in the jumps/kicks category of the trials" i cant help but laugh haha

The Unecessary Censorship in this thread reminds me of this:

How hard is it to allow for a little extra sqare footage for the girls to cheer in so that Julia can be part of the squad getting the crowd behind the team up for the next play? I'm all about 'by-the-book' but this girl's life has been off-book since the beginning. They ought to improvise.

I'm not saying to have her on the competition squad or anything like that, but she's passionate about cheering for her highschool, f*cking let her cheer for her damn high school already.

Hell, for a 4th quarter rally scenario the girls could pick up Julia and get her on their shoulders and have her start beating on a cowbell to get the school and the team fired up.

What would be the downside to her being on the squad? God forbid we allow that disabled girl to feel even a shred of normalcy! Not fair to the other girls that tried out? Maybe they could cut off their arms and legs if they wanted to give Julia some competition at next years tryouts. It's sh*t like this Nebraska.

Tricky thing to handle.
Give her a spot everyone will want on for same reason.
Deny her a spot and she will feel discriminated.

I would stick by telling her no.
and take this guy instead

you wouldn't believe some of the bullshit suits in this country.....lawsuit reform is definitely needed and soon

Agreed.

Yeah, we are the 'Sue Nation.' This particular scenario shouldn't even make it that far. It should be a matter between Aurora High and Julia Sullivan. If they don't allow her on the team that would be disappointing but it should not go down the path of a lawsuit.

I think this, faceoflawsuitabuse.org, shows the pussification of America that is discussed a lot around here, in circles, but never in the media. :hmmm: We lower standards, give medals where they aren't warranted, and wonder where the over-achievers have gone. Now when someone doesn't get their way they feel they are still entitled to some sort of satisfaction.

If it sounds like I am of two minds about this, I'm really not. Exceptional circumstances (this case,) should allow for exceptions to be made. That should not be a requirement under penalty of lawsuit if concessions are not made though.

Fuck her! What next, legless football players? Singers with tracheotomies? How about blind dodge ball? Should poor athletes sue every time they aren't chosen for little league?

There is asking for equal respect as a person on one hand, then there is making absolutely ridiculous demands of society on the other hand. She is being unreasonable, and I think her worst disability is her stupidity.

how different would the national swimming and diving championships be if parapalegics or total amputees were competing.....held in conjunction with the lifeguard olympics of course....

She's really barking up the wrong tree. If you have a handicap, you should look for something you can do and not just try and force yourself into a certain group, expecting the group to conform to your situation. In this case, her physical condition precludes her from fulfilling the job description. She could be in the band, playing the symbols, drums, sax, or something else that she can do despite her handicap.

It's like saying that a retarded guy who doesn't get promoted from running simple errands to being a bookkeeper should sue or that the company should simply make the job easier to accommodate his disability. Doesn't work that way.

I know it captn'. Just wanted to see if you'd be honest. Can't blame ya. I bet she'd be easy too. Not like she can run or claw ya. :ohyeah:

That's fucked up homes :coffee:

They should just tell her "Youre not pretty enough, has nothing to do with your stubs."

She'd kill herself surely.
