Four years ago, Jane was twice as old as Sam. Four years on from now, Sam will be 3/4 of Jane's age. How old is Jane now?:coffee:

here don't look

12. 4 years ago Jane was 8, Sam was 4. In 4 years from now, Jane will be 16 and Sam will be 12.

There are 1200 elephants in a herd. Some have pink and green stripes, some are all pink and some are all blue. One third are pure pink. Is it true that 400 elephants are definitely blue?

Practice makes perfect with anything. You didn't become fit overnight. Think about it.

I have to strongly disagree with the above statement, that is the biggest most basic misconception of all time. Practice doesn't make perfect ever!!! Perfect practice makes perfect.... You can practice anything all day every day but if you don't have the basics down you will never end up with a perfect ending.

1 + 1 = 3 you can practice that all day but it is still wrong.

Running on the threadmill will never cause weight loss if it followed up by a box of Ho Ho's and a chocolate shake. = wrong concept.

Oh and I could not give a fuck about math one way or the other.

I had forgot all about that ^^^ bullshit. :coffee:

I always liked the two trains are on the same track traveling toward each other will they crash questions because in HS, those mofos never hit each other but once you got to college they smashed all the time. :coffee:

Answer: Jane's a whore.

Jane and Sam use Math!!!!

Jane tells Sam for her 16th birthday she want 12 inches and wants it to hurt so bad she screams. Sam thinks about it for a minutes and says... I got it, I'll screw you twice with my 6 inches and then bunch you in the face!!!!

Jane is a whore and Sam will be a solutions analyst.

big60235 doesn't condone hitting girls but does condone screwing them twice!!!!

I use math and science everyday in my profession. World History is a different story.

I find no point in it. I will never use it, nor will the next guy (or even understand it). If its complex it's not like someone is going to do it on paper, human error is so great they would be having a program for it. It's a waste of my time and I would rather be learning things I will actually use.

Algebraic problems are like puzzles...if you think of them that way, it can actually be enjoyable, just like crosswords or suddoku (I don't like those things but some people do).

Math knowledge is like building a large house. If you have a solid foundation and build it from the ground up it all makes sense and you have multiple ways to solve a problem.

The reason so many people hate math is that teachers teach kids "shortcuts" to solving problems which work but they essentially leave out some steps that add to an overall understanding. Then, when things get more complicated, people have no understanding to build their own formulas or test to see if their formulas work.

This is the reason proof work showing every minute step is so important to the develoment of clear logical thinking in adults.

math and chemistry are an erryday tool for me as well.
lol...I know.

Good post.

I was told that I had to take a placement test for my math class. I'm awful at math. I NEED Math 101 for it to count towards my degree. I only placed into Math 98. They told me that I would have to take Math 98, Math 99, Math 100 then finallly, 101. There was NO WAY I was paying 700 per class that doesn't count towards shit towards my degree. I quit college when all I needed was one class for my degree. Finally, years later, I found a college that would accept all of my previous credits and let me take Math 101 online. I just paid someone to do it online for me. I hate math, it's useless, pointless and I certainly don't use it in my everyday life.

Congrats, so now you have a piece of paper that represents a body of knowledge that you are actually deficient in (further diluting the nearly worthless value of a basic degree) . The sad thing is that if you are dedicated to bettering yourself, you can actually teach yourself this stuff...you don't need a teacher.

The only class I ever cheated in college was Business Stat. While generally not a hard class, the 2 professors that taught it literally enjoyed making their courses extremely hard and I knew 2 guys who took 6 tries before getting through Stat successfully.

Anyway, we were issued laptops my senior year and I had all the formulas pre-plugged into Excel (we're were supposed to know the formulas but could still use Excel).

Fuck 'em. Unlike countless other ass kissers, I never once kissed a professor's ass to get a better grade and generally I only missed a single class per quarter/semester so this one 'freebie' didn't hurt me or them.

Shit dude...I look out for my career and my family. When you're in the public safety field, math is a non-necessity. I don't even use 90% of the 'other stuff' that I did on my own. When I went through the academy, we had one instructor who said, "forget everything you've learned in college, all you ever need is what we teach you here for the next six months."

Unless you're a math major, scientist, biologist, etc. a job where you crunch #'s all day, no thanks, I don't need it.

I can understand discounting the need for statistics and calculus but math 101? If you have a college degree and could not get a respectable grade in basic math (that's what 101 is, below that is remedial) on your own you shouldn't have a college degree. You're not alone in this boat as it appears to be epidemic as colleges are turning into degree farms.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

I read this passage as a kid and took it to heart but the sheer numbers of people who try to just get by with acquiring as little knowledge as possible is a shame.

Answer: Jane's a whore.

Jane had a kid by jack and now get 99% of his pay...how much is jack fuck 4 the next 18 years?:coffee:

op, in most women one breast is bigger than the other. if you had the right job you could probably get federal funding to research this. :coffee:

math is fun IF you're in class every day, you pay attention and speak up if you're lost.

there are also math specific learning disabilities such as dyscalculia that can make it very hard for some people.

Yes math can be quite a hassle.

Worst part of math in a school atmosphere IMO isnt so much the learning aspect as the Repotition of doing the newly learned formula's over and over and so on.

Without math....Gear would be....well it wouldnt be :)

Youll do alright.

PM me if you need help.

I made an A in my algebra class last semester--fucking miracle!

Seriously who enjoys doing this fucking shit? For those of you in school or going back to school, math is fucking pointless. Besides simple math there's zero point to teach it unless your major calls for it. I would like to hang the nigger that invented math. :shooter:
It not to bad when you get the steps done. What class is it?

I've yet to meet anyone who actually uses the crap I'm studying, granted there are some who may use parts of it,but not all this crap. Those people make up about 1% of the population.

Don't know any engineers, Bro?

Hence the 1%, and it's not my major thus I shouldn't have to take it, bro.

math is easy, it's all about following a specific order of steps and procedures, sometimes there are short-cuts and others none. those that waste energy on trying to figure out how it would ever apply in real life form mental blocks which make learning higher levels more difficult than needed be.

word problems are generally the nemesis for those that don't like to read and are not very good at critical thinking and problem solving in general.
