I have hyperthyroid, my TSH levels are almost zero. Cool huh? Not really I got an ultrasound done and both sides of my thyroid are enlarged. The right side is more than double in size. The other side not nearly so much.
I go in for a biopsy on the 6th.
The dr said it looks like the masses are fluid filled but doesn't know until the biopsy.
They said if the masses are in the middle then the whole thyroid has to come out. If it is a growth then the mass can come out. (TorF)
The meds to lower TSH are bad for you(TorF)
They said it is easier for them to abate the thyroid surgically then give me meds to make up the difference. (TorF)

OK my mom had some thyroxin for under-active thyroid I took maybe 1 or 2 of these in my life could this enlarge my thyroid?

If the biopsy comes back as no cancer and I do not want the surgery what are the ill effects of over active thyroid?

I am 6'2" and 230#. My BP is relatively normal.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Taking one or two t3 pills won't do this to you, so there's obviously something else wrong. None of us are doctors or experts, so listen to your doctor. Hopefully it's something minor and easily treatable.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

TY Tony yeah it is most likely benign.
I am not going to let them take my whole thyroid out though

Do you have a goiter .I think i speeled it wrong

Think of your thyroid gland as your metabolism regulator. Please look at these two sites

I am not a doctor, but I have seen patients with both. If you have a complete thyroidectomy, you will be on thyroid replacement, using synthroid or some other form of Thyroid hormone, for the rest of your life. Both are a rough disease to live with. Like mentioned above, your best bet is to keep in touch with your doctor regularly and weigh your options with a lot of thought.

Remember that second opinions are free.

Sorry to hear about this bro.
I've been having a reoccuring feeling of a lump in my throat ever since I tried hgh in feb, I got a sonagram on my throat, they didn't see anything but blood test showed my thyroid is slightly overactive. Wonder if this has anything to do with the lump

He said I have hyperthyroidism. TSH is nearly zero while T3 is normal.
My body is weird

That is how they found mine. Just check it often. I am getting a biopsy tuesday to make sure mine is not cancer.

Dam bro, did you feel a lump in ur throat? Like the feeling you have when you hold back a yawn

When I swallow I can feel it
I got a strong feeling mine is not cancer

Feeling it when you swallow is not that bad and if it is not painful thats a good sign. Even if it is cancer though is sounds like they found it fast, Low TSH still and normal T3. Most likely it is fluid or some beguine lump. No matter what it turns out to be the therapies that have been developed just in the last few years make it much easier to deal with than ever before.

My guess is fluid and drain it, see why it happens and deal with that is how it will turn out. Let us know and I will keep you in my prayers bro!

1 side was fluid and was drained. 1 side a solid mass, biopsy of that. I go back to the dr the 16th to find out.

I got the results back yesterday. No cancer.
OK now my TSH is low indicating hyperthyroidism but T3 is in the middle of the normal range, weird HUH?
So am I hyperthyroid or not? The Dr wants to remove the side with the large mass. It is not noticeable and not bothering me.
What would happen to TSH and T3 if they remove 1 side?
The levels has been ezactly the same for 4 years.

Has your doctor indicated that you may have Grave's Disease? This is not something you want to mess with. The eyes will protrude and the skin will turn orange. multiple systems of the body are affected. If the thyroid is in trouble just get it taken care of and go forward from there.

We talked about Graves disease and I am not even close. He said Graves disease is an autoimmune disease and to much T3 is made. My T3 is in the middle.

ya the thyroid prob sucks. I have hypothyroidism. dont take thyroxine [ synthroid] though. which is t4 actually. im able to treat it naturally with iodine from kelp, tyrosine and selenium. the selenim helps convert the t4 to t3 wich i get lowest on. I know there are natural ways to treat hyperthyroidism as well. see, I have to stay away from broccli, colliflower, cabbage and thing like that because there are things in it that inhibbit thyroid function. forget what they are called, but do some reserch and you will see. just my 2 cents! listen to ur doc, but i would get more than one oppinion.

Getting more test done in january to find out exactly what needs to be done
