I'm very happy to hear that brother. These little kids deserve a chance.

Thank you for you and your wife's kind hearts.

We're glad to do things like this. We're fortunate ourselves and this is a great opportunity. (for both sides) Keep me posted on your child and his details. Name, age, location, etc.

This was the e-mail response I was sent today;

"Hi John,

It would be wonderful to have you join our sponsor "family"! We do have a primary child named Oroda Sam who is in need of a sponsor. Sam just turned 12 at the end of December. He is the youngest of eight children. His father died of AIDS the year Sam was born, so his mother has had a terrible struggle to provide for her children. We took Sam into our program in 2007, but his first sponsors' circumstances drastically changed a few months ago, and they could no longer support him. We never "drop" a child when that happens, but it is very difficult for Village2Village to meet the needs of unsponsored children out of our program budget (since it's so small!). If you would be interested in becoming Sam's sponsor, it would be a wonderful thing for both him and V2V. I've attached a photo of Sam so you can see what he looks like.

We're also very grateful for your desire to sponsor a staff person. Our staff in Uganda is so dedicated and hard working, but it's been a struggle for us to keep up with the rate of inflation there to pay them a livable wage. It is immensely helpful to have sponsors supplement our efforts. We have not been assigning a particular staff member to sponsors, but you will definitely receive letters from one or another of them from time to time- they love knowing there are people who are especially interested in them.

Please let me know if all this sounds good to you, and I'll be glad to get a packet out to you with information on Sam and sponsoring with Village2Village.

Blessings,
Catherine"

Our child is 12 and is from Uganda. His name is Giabagano Collins. (but he goes by Gia) Oldest of 5 and he enjoys soccer. In his last letter in the "what is your ultimate dream" spot, he put "to visit the USA and watch them play soccer." hahaha. I love getting letters from him and seeing his responses to questions.

Bro I couldn't imagine having a kid and not being able to feed it. Why have 8 fucking kids to watch them starve. That pisses me off

They need education. Do you know the average guy in Africa still believes that if you have sex with a virgin it will cure you of AIDS. That is a fact no bullshitting.

I see a Heavy tour across Africa in sex education. LOL

Yeah, the whole thing is messed up. They need education or the cycle will keep repeating.

Very cool you can give him some joy with your donations.

I cant watch it but will look in to sponsoring a child its been on my mind for a while and this just hit a spot with me, it choked me up just reading the posts, its really cool of you guys to step up and help, no kid should suffer like that no matter were they are or the color of there skin, I look at my 3yo son and cant even imagine him suffering and starving. My wife just said shes in to it also.

I would never sponsor a child. Eventually they do grow up and live as dead weight, sucking up more and more of the world's resources. It's better to just let the herd thin out naturally. Think about how many billions and billions in aid go to African nations each year and the whole continent is still a wasteland. The only true way to help those people would be to put it back under British rule.

That's great! Post up the details if you guys decide to do it! It's a great cause! And, those kids appreciate it more than you know.

I have zero sympathy.

That "innocent" waif will grow up to be the same shitty person most of his people are. There has never been a time when they weren't fucking themselves over.

It's like pointing to a train wreck of fifty cars, pointing the eighth car back, and saying, "Someone's gotta help that boxcar!"

The West has thrown billions at Africa with little, if any, good actually accomplished.

It's the cultures in Africa that are the problem. It has been that way since time immemorial. Consider that there hadn't been a major civilization in Africa until the Europeans took over. All the modern advancements in Africa were from the Europeans.

Short version: Africa does all of its shit to itself and I have no sympathy.

I agree with virtually everything you said, but for me, they're still children. With most charitable organizations, most of the money is corrupted and it doesn't even reach the people (the children) like it's supposed to. It ends up in the hands of gangs, thieves, etc.

LOL @ this hyprocrite who always makes fun of dark-skinned folks.
Now all of sudden a heart of gold, please, definitely not fooling me.

But anyway that country is basically a lost cause and not worth it.
Immense prosperity is just not something everyone was meant to gain
in a life cycle where world peace will always nothing but a pipe dream.

Conflict, poverty, greed, abuse and death will be only the constants.

Each of your useless, faux-cerebral waffles is more cringe-inducing than the last, Semon. Could you try any harder? Everything about you screams loser--the repulsive schmoeing, the endless, shameful name changes, the second-hand insults, the teen-horror avatar, the angsty-teen location under your handle; you're a big ball of awful clichés, bound up in a desperate virgin cloth. In short, you're disgusting, Schmeddie. I'd rather sniff dog shit than have any further association with you. How does it feel to be universally despised?

That waas very disturbing to watch. It made me just hug my kids just a little bit tighter....
Watching that vid made me order a pizza :coffee:

Racial humor is one thing, using it as an opportunity to troll openchat is another. You are a piece of shit, and I am pretty fucking pissed at IM's management and mods for not dealing with trolls like you.

I'll make a nigger joke in a second, but then when I watched that video, I grind my teeth. My stomach turns, and guilt sets in causing me to feel like a piece of shit. One side of me wants to jump on a plane tonight and go help those people, and then another side just wants no one else to post in this thread so it will go away and I can file this away deep in the back of my mind as why life sucks and forget about it.

I am like a lot of people where I give a tiny percentage of my income away, just enough to buy the guilt away. At the same time, I know it isn't even a drop in the bucket.

This hurts!! Really really sad. My father and I run a well drilling company that has been in business over 110 years. We are the third largest family owned and operated company on the east coast. We travel to third world countries 3 months out of the year to drill wells for the people. It's a wonderful experience. We have adopted 2 children on this journey and it's an amazing experience to kno what we have done for them. God bless these children!!

^^^Well good luck with that guilt thing....:coffee: The new shiznit

.death and deception
fill our earth
we are in evil
even in birth
cruelty is an aly
hate is a must
pain is in every
small speck of dust
fear lurks in
the shadows of night
darkness lingers
when there should be light
horror is all
that remains in this place
our cruel,cruel world
is such a disgrace
neurotic and paranoid
are words that explain
the traits of people
who die in vain.
because of these things
it is a war
between good and bad,
but they are thirsty for more.
so innocent people
are shed of their blood
they are cruel and twisted
and worthless as mud
