They like him because he makes the US look ineffectual and because he's not Bush. Hell, he got a Nobel prize for not being Bush.
Don't believe everything you read here on IML. There are a lot of republicans and conservatives here who are very loud about how much they dislike him.

You have to remember that even Bush had a 30% approval rating at the end of his presidency.
Obama hasn't been as good as the Dems would lead you to believe, but he also hasn't been nearly as bad as the conservatives would like to think.
He hasn't done anything catastrophically horrible like his predecessor which is nice. The biggest piece if legislation he pushed through was health care reform, and honestly the Dems settled for a lot less in their push. If anyone really wants to dig into history Clinton could have gotten this deal when he was president. Hell, the mandate, that everyone is up in arms about is a republican idea.
I give Obama a C- so far.

I agree and it's why Santorum is pushing so hard in the social conservative front. He feels the economy is going to be a tough argument for republicans to win this fall.

Quite a few of things he's taking credit for started before he took office. But the rule stands: If it's good, it's Obama's fault; if it's bad, it's Bush's fault.

the sad thing is that people actually thought the economy was doing good in the 90's, the only thing that saved Clinton was the Internet boom which obviously had nothing to do with him. Over-investment caused that bubble to burst in 2001. that was actually a natural bubble/burst cycle not fueled by legislation.
and in the 2000's with the manufactured housing boom under Bush that was not based on real income growth but on financial deregulation as the direct result of lobbying and legislation. the US allows unlimited foreign direct investment into the US which helped to push home prices up to totally unrealistic values never seen before in US history. homes are supposed to appreciate with inflation, real income growth and as turnover increases when the cost of borrowing capital decreases. had the housing boom been real due to supply & demand and not deregulation there would have been comparable increases in the rents for rental homes but there was not so there was no housing shortage rents stayed the same.
for the working class the economy has been in the shitter for decades with consumption being fueled by debt as the steadily decreasing federal funds rate out of the FRB is proof positive of this.
Obuma has broken a LOT of his campaign promises. He has been weaker than anyone expected. He has helped the big banks and wall street.
Way is it that it seems in the news that people hate Obuma. Not the reasons I just outlined. It's because a lot of our, well okay, almost all of our news in the USA caters to one side or the other. Neo-Con or Left of being Liberal. It is a way they use to keep everyone fighting so that the real rulers of the country can keep their power.

Or how about turning down several opportunities that would create 200,000 jobs? Yeah... he is a great president and worthy of relelection! We look like we are doing better, but in actuality we aren't... The overall feeling in this country is that the US is worthless. Several polls were done on this topic, the moral of the country is worse now than when he started. He has put us further in debt trying to get us OUT of debt... what makes this even worse is that we are in debt to a country that if they wanted could obliterate us right now! Sure, the economy has gone up and that's good. But its due to borrowing, not the creation of jobs. But the economy isn't everything much to most peoples disagreement. The country looks like shit everywhere else...
Okay, different situation. That wasn't a country, that was a terrorist faction. We get threatened with nuclear war now more than before he was in office, and that's by countries! Not factions! I'd lay a bet if he has been in office during 9/11 he wouldn't have dropped the hammer. He would have let it go... he doesn't have the stones to defend this country!

Several very high ranking military officials, one who sits on the War Council. My whole family has been in the military. My uncle served in Vietnam with a couple guys who are very high up in our military now. As he still carries a top secret military clearance level he knows things most people don't.

That happened because Clinton was an ineffectual, limp-wristed, bitch. During his eight years in office we were attacked abroad on several occations. Each attack was more bold and daring than the last. What did Clinton do? Almost nothing. He bombed an aspirin factory. Whoopdi-do. Because he never countered the force received with, at least, an equal force, they didn't feel the fear they should have. All of which culminated in 9/11.
