When using the dip station, I use chains around my neck as many of you guys do. Well I want to add more weight, but my neck is having a hard time supporting the extra weight. I actually started using a heavy kevlar vest as well, but it's really uncomfortable and the vest really irritates my skin. Any ideas how I can add more weight to my dips? I even got those velcro stap on weights that go on your ankles, but it's still not enough. Thoughts? Thanks!

Buy a dip belt and add the weight you want.

I can't use the belt, I have spina bifida and the belt will cripple me. I can deal with the weight on my neck, but down around my waist is just too painful. Any other ideas??

Sorry, I have no other ideas. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Backpacks filled with sand or weights can help. plates help keep up with the amount added, if you dont have a scale to weigh the backpack everytime.

I tried backpacks with weight, hurt my back too much. BUT....wrapping the chains around my body might work for me like in the pic colochine posted! I'm going to give that a shot....I just need to go to home depot and get some MUCH longer chains. Nice idea!!! I'm excited, I'll let you guys know how it works out for me....no more body armor!! Thanks for your help guys!! I guess I never though of wrapping the chains around my whole body....probably because my chains are not that long. NICE!

Nice I think the chains I've used in the past are connected with clips like this ImageUploadedByTapatalk1332270609.690436.jpg they work well and you can probably find them at the same hardware store, I think they're called a carabiner clip.

jesus! I wish I had that problem.

I think Lifeline USA chest expanders would work. They have soft handles you can grip over the dip bars. They come in 10 - 90lb band type cables and the handles hold up to 3 cables at a time. So you could add up to 270lbs.

That's not a bad idea either! I'm going to try strapping the chains, and if I still have issues...I'll give the chest expander a try. Besides, I'd like to get some of them to have when I travel and don't have access to a gym. Again, thank you!

I agree. Wrap the chains around your body. This would prob. be your best bet

You really have that medical condition?

I'm not saying your making it up, I have a family member with that condition so I've seen it in person. It's just incredible that you can work out while still having this condition.

First, I love your sig....that's probably the best part of all the seasons, I watched that show over and over and have all series on DVD. Prob my favorite show out there.

My case of SB is not all that bad, but I do have days where I can't walk much less get out of bed. I've been working out religiously for over a dozen years, I'm just careful with certain training programs I have set up. I know a few guys that have it really bad and can't even open the door to get into the gym. Pain comes and goes...my condition was what made me start training to begin with, over a decade ago. I've noticed that when I take it easier in the gym, I hurt more....but when on a program and lifting HEAVY weight, it doesn't bother me as much. I know, weird....you would think it would be the other way around. When the pain get's really bad...you know what helps? I take my motorcycle out for a hard run for about 30 minutes. When I get back home, my back feels better. I told my doc this and he said the vibration of the bike helps loosen me up, thus making my back feel better. So, I try and ride my bike rather often. :)

On another note, I tried wrapping the chains around me today and it works wonders. How I didn't think of this before pisses me off. Thanks for the idea and help fellas!!

hold a dumbbell between your feet and use chains, once you get use to holding the dumbbell it will become easy.

You can try hanging the weight from your balls. It's painful at first, but you get used to it. Do a yahoo image search for instructions.

Also negates the need for hcG! :ohyeah:
