My son is in his first year of preschool and thus bringing home a new sickness what seems like every other week! I can't remember being sick so often. Last month I kept going to the gym while I was sick in defiance but it seemed to make things worse. Now I'm sick again and taking it easy. This one has been mild and I feel like I can go back after a week off, but i am worried about aggravating things and making the cold last longer. What do you do when sick? Take it easy and wait till you?re better, or work through it? I really need to get a leg workout in but I don't want this to last any longer than it needs to. At least my diet is still on track.

If I have a fever then no if I just have a cold or sore throat or something then yes.

If I feel the scratchy throat coming on -- that feeling like you're contagious, yea I stay home. If I'm exhausted, I'll stay home. Otherwise it generally feels good to get out and sweat. I guess you need to use your common sense.

RE: your kid - maybe get a recommendation from your doc on some vitamins or something to help fight whatever he brings home.

I "work out" when I'm sick. Lighter weights, less sets, no failure. Really just go in to get a little blood flow, have fun, and wake up a little bit. I don't expect any gains from it. It sure beats that feverish couch potato feeling.

I cut down all the weight I lift by 60% and then do the workout. It usually helps me speed up my recovery.

If I have a fever I definitely don't. If I am feeling lethargic, definitely not.

I train very heavy with generally lower reps, so my body will let me know quickly I am not supposed to be lifting that day. Over the years I have developed a very accurate intuition for when I should and should not be training.

yes. i like coughing and sneezing all over the gym and my fellow brothers of iron love it when i do it.

Honestly man I feel better when I workout and sauna when I am sick, I swear it helps me get over the sickness faster... Even when I feel super weak and feeble, I will still go and get a medium workout on to get some blood pumping, but I constantly drink gatorade and water during too.

If I am running gear then come rain or snow I gettin it. Being in the Army for the past nine years you learn to suck it up, take a knee, face out and keep on rocking. The enemy doesn't care if you are sick it freaks them out to see you throw up out in sector, wipe off your mouth and keep on humping!!!:shooter:

It depends. Obviously if I'm contagious and have a bad sickness then I stay home. If I'm just feeling under the weather or have a cold or sore throat then I typically go. I'll hit up the steam room after as well. Personally it makes me feel better when I go to the gym and doesn't seem to make my sickness last longer or go away faster but I feel better when I do go. Maybe it's a mental thing.
