She admitted voting twice in the presidential election last November, and now, Obama supporter Melowese Richardson has been indicted for allegedly voting at least six times. She also is charged with illegal voting in 2008 and 2011.
The 58-year-old veteran Cincinnati poll worker, indicted Monday, faces eight counts of voter fraud. Two others, one of whom is a nun, have been charged separately.
Richardson had admitted on camera to a local TV station, "Yes, I voted twice," claiming she was concerned that her vote would not count. She also said there "was no intent on my part to commit any voter fraud."
"I'll fight it for Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama's right to sit as president of the United States," she proclaimed in the interview.
Officials charged that she voted in her own name by absentee ballot and also in person at the polls, but Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Deters said she also is charged with voting in the name of five other people in various elections.
"This is not North Korea," Deters said in a statement announcing the indictments. "Elections are a serious business and the foundation of our democracy. In the scheme of things, individual votes may not seem important, but this could not be further from the truth. Every vote is important and every voter and candidate needs to have faith in our system. The charges today should let people know that we take this seriously."
Richardson made national headlines when the Hamilton County Board of Elections announced that it was investigating whether she voted up to half a dozen times, including on behalf of her granddaughter, India Richardson.
India told Fox News that her grandmother did indeed vote in her name, telling us that "it wasn't a big deal."
But voting twice or in another person's name is illegal.
Prosecutors say the five other people for whom Richardson cast ballots are all relatives.
Sister Marguerite Kloos also faces one count of illegal voting, for allegedly submitting an absentee ballot in the name of a fellow nun, Sister Rose Marie Hewitt, who had died before absentee ballots were sent out. She is accused of opening Sister Hewitt?s ballot, forging her signature and mailing it to the Board of Elections as a vote.
The 54-year-old Kloos has resigned as the dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, where she still serves as an associate professor of religious and pastoral studies.
Kloos was not indicted but faces what is known as an information, because her lawyer contacted prosecutors and she agreed to cooperate and plead guilty.
"As a valued member of the Mount community, our thoughts are with her during this difficult time," the college said in a written statement. "We respect her privacy and will not comment further on this matter at this time."
Russell Glassop, 75, also is charged with illegal voting. He is accused of voting on behalf of his wife, who died before election day.
But it was Richardson's case, and the possibility of repeated votes, that shocked many. She faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted. Efforts to contact her and her lawyer have been unsuccessful.
The Hamilton County Board of Elections recently held hearings on cases of possible double voting and voter fraud, part of a statewide review ordered by Secretary of State John Husted. He called on all 88 counties to review complaints of fraud, as well as voter disenfranchisement.
?Every voter must play by the rules, and if they don?t they will be held accountable,? Husted, a Republican, said in a written statement. ?For voters to have confidence in our elections, we must prosecute every case of voter fraud in Ohio.?
Last month, Husted told Fox News that Richardson's case was especially troubling, because "it appears she not only attempted to vote more than once, but was actually successful at it and having those additional votes counted."
"Most attempts are caught by the system. But there are cases that do slip through, as this one does, and we need to make sure that we really send a strong message, that if you do this, you are going to be held accountable,? Husted said. ?It might mean fines, it might mean jail time."
Hamilton County prosecutors are investigating three additional cases of possible voter fraud.

A Nevada Republican arrested for voter fraud in the 2012 election, after claiming she was trying to test the system's integrity, pled guilty and accepted a plea deal Thursday, forcing her to pay almost $2,500 and promise to stay out of trouble.
Roxanne Rubin, 56, a casino worker on the Las Vegas Strip, was arrested on Nov. 3, 2012 after trying to vote twice, once at her poling site in Henderson and then at a second site in Las Vegas. The poll workers at the second site said that she had already voted, but Rubin said that she hadn't and insisted on casting a ballot, which the poll workers refused to allow her to do.
Rubin said that she was trying to show how easy it would be to commit voter fraud with just a signature. "This has always been an issue with me. I just feel the system is flawed," she told the AP Thursday. "If we?re showing ID for everything else, why wouldn?t we show our ID in order to vote??
Rubin, like many Republicans, claim that the threat from voter fraud -- which is close to non-existent -- is why voter ID laws need to be in place. But Nevada has no voter ID law -- other than for first-time voters who didn't show ID when they registered to vote -- and she was caught anyway.
The prosecutor in the case said he knew of no other voters in Nevada or elsewhere arrested for voter fraud.

Democratic Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, who has called for a photo ID law, slammed Rubin in a statement. "If Ms. Rubin was trying to demonstrate how easy it is to commit voter fraud, she clearly failed and proved just the opposite," he said.
Rubin's deal requires her to pay $2,481 to the state in restitution, complete 100 hours of community service, stay out of trouble and complete an impulse control course.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement revealed Tuesday that two employees of a company hired by the Republican Party of Florida to register voters admitted they committed fraud during the 2012 election season.
The two former employees of Strategic Allied Consulting are facing third degree felony charges after admitting that they submitted dozens of forged voter registration applications last fall ahead of the 2012 election.
The employees, Rebekah Joy Paul and Christian Davis Price, told investigators they forged forms in order to meet the required number of applications and receive payment. Paul also said that her bosses at Strategic Allied instructed her to not register Democrats, although a lawyer for the company denies that allegation.
Paul?s story is similar to a complaint filed in Nevada last fall by a woman who claimed she was told to tear up her registration form by a SAC employee when he realized she had registered as a Democrat.
Strategic Allied Consulting was dismissed by the Republican National Committee and many state GOP parties after elections officials received complaints of shady registration practices and discovered irregularities on registration documents.
The company is run by Nathan Sproul, a Republican who has worked on Republican get out the vote and registration campaigns for years through his various companies. Those companies have faced voter fraud accusations dating back to 2004.
Just last year, Virginia officials charged Colin Small, a former employee of Strategic Allied Consulting who continued working directly for the Republican party of Virginia after the state party severed ties with SAC, with eight felonies and five misdemeanors associated with destroying voter registration forms.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has not finished its inquiry into the firm, and four more cases are still pending investigation.
FDLE also announced two additional voter fraud cases would be closed without charges, including accusations that a Democratic party employee registered a non-citizen to vote. Resident Jorge Cala complained to election officials when he received a voter registration card in the mail, claiming he never understood what he was signing and that a Democratic official had pressured him to register. The investigation ended when that man was unable to pick out the Democratic Party employees from a photo lineup.

Two former employees of the consulting firm Strategic Allied Consulting, whose head Nathan Sproul has a history of legal issues as well as ties to the Republican Party, admitted to law enforcement that they committed voter fraud, the Associated Press reports.
From the AP:
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported Tuesday that the two ex-employees were charged with a third degree felony. But prosecutors back in January decided to place both of them on probation because neither has a criminal history.
Strategic Allied Consulting was hired by Republicans to do voter registration drives in Florida and other states. But last fall, the state party fired the company and took the additional step of filing an election fraud complaint against the company with state officials.
Rebekah Joy Paul submitted 20 fake voter registration applications, according to the FDLE, while Christian Davis Price submitted seven. Both alleged that they were told they would not get paid unless they submitted a certain number of applications, and Paul alleges that she was instructed not to register Democrats.
In Florida, there are still four pending cases against the firm, though an attorney for the company says the investigation is looking at at most six employees, so the probe is just a ?tempest in a teapot.?
?What this comes down to is that we had had a few employees who were not good employees,? Frederick Petti, the attorney for SAC, said. ?They were filling out fake forms.?
But Strategic Allied Consulting, headed up by infamous voter registration consultant Nathan Sproul, has a history of shady dealings and legal troubles related to voter fraud ? a history that hasn?t stopped Republicans from continuously hiring the firm. In 2004, for instance, Lincoln Strategy Group, which is also headed up by Sproul, tried to pull votes away from John Kerry by trying to get Ralph Nader on the ballot. At the time the firm was employed by the national Republican Party.
In October 2004, in Nevada and Oregon, former employees of the Sproul-run Voters Outreach of America alleged that they witnessed staff members shredding registration forms from Democrats. At the time, the RNC had paid $500,000 to the group for voter outreach.

seems to be those screaming and shouting the most about voter fraud were the ones committing it...now who would have thought that?...LMAO

If the election hadn't been between black Obama and white Obama I might give a shit.

Really too late now. One way to avoid this is if you are on public relief, you will not be allowed to vote. Or make voting mandatory with solid fines for not complying. This way all the sit on their ass, complain about everything people who sit out every election will actually be forced to think and get some skin in the game..

seems to me that only the libtards are wasting their time finding stuff to copy and paste in their defense...the right has more important things to do...like, getting DC to pass a f'n budget, stop wasteful spending, close the borders, stop the nanny state and handouts, and much more

Don;t forget, entire voting precincts voted for Obama with not one vote for Obama. In fact, they were so anti-Romney, the turn out was 15,000 voters in an voting district of 10,000.

Face it, the games a foot,. Both sides are cheating, but the left seems to have it down much better than the right.

milwaukee county had something like 30,000 more votes than it has registered voters

More whining from republicans about losing yet another election. Lol

Just shut up about abortion, gays, immigrants, science and women and you may win one of these days. Having only old, rich white guys as your electorate is a sure way to lose every time. Oh, and kkk members and the westboro baptists.

LOL...sorry your too stupid to read in your fee time about anything that doesn't directly include your job.

how's that anti-intellectual thing working out for you? knowing absolutely nothing about everything has got to be getting old isn't it?

and if you hadn't noticed the power elite could care less about a budget, their profits and incomes are breaking records? or have you just totally missed the ball on what's been going on in the US for the past 3-4 decades?

President Obama: There Is No Debt Crisis

Obama has no value for the constitution or our vets. Screw him, he just stopped a program that assists disabled homeless vets from getting housing, but yet will pay excessive money to welfare cases and drug addicts. Also its been 14 months and still no VA support for my PTSD... I have to pay for it through my insurance when this is suppose to be granted from the VA... This is the type of medical you guys voted for.

LOL...14 whole months? try 18 years for me and 40 years for 50% of the Vietnam vets in the US that left blood, guts and body parts in Vietnam. you should really try learning about how the US government really works because there is nothing new about the bad things it doesn't do for those that served.

so again you just proved my point... Why do we support this guy when he wants to implement the same system as our VA into our medical? I know guys who were going every day to get help and ended up committing suicide due to insane night terrors and insomnia because they feared sleeping. I still have not been able to figure out one positive thing this guy has done, but increase black voters
