I went back to school for computer science (computer programming) After I finished school my older brother who is a software engineer himself wanted to start an app business for android. It was his idea and he pushed it. So I dropped my life and moved out of state and basically lived in his living room. Which was fine and everything has been going pretty well. I started dating a girl pretty much as soon as I got here. Shes slept at my house pretty much every night since we met. So then my older brother got a girlfriend and she wanted to move into a bigger place. Everything has been going fine here but now today he tells me that his girlfriend wants my girlfriend to basically not come over anymore. She doesnt disturb anyone. So my brother is telling me that she wants my girlfriend to only come over a couple nights a week max from now on or his girlfriend is moving out. I dont pay rent. And I think thats why they think they can make decisions on what I can do in the house. But Im not only an invited guest but Im his damn brother. The business is literally just becoming self sufficient and isnt making enough money to pay me pay checks yet. So when he was telling me this I was pretty much just saying yea ok Ill work stuff out. But then after thinking about it more and talking to my girlfriend im mad as hell. I dont sleep at my girlfriends house for many reasons. We get pissed off at each other all the time but it has never affected our family. Right now your brother has you by the balls, if you piss him off he can control you with out a documented business agreement. I.E 50% of the apt is your due to your labor or you can have what ever guest you want as long as they are not affecting the living standards of the apt or conducting illegal activities. Document EVERY thing, it saved my ass when I went in to my first business with my cousin who i had a falling out with and we bought a bunch of boats together to make a private wake board tour. Basically we drive the boats and you ski all you want. Cousin stopped paying his share, i took him to court and he had to pay me off and we shut it down. Were fine now, but i wasnt going to pay 5k of his debt because he was being a bitch.

I have NO clue where you live or how work is there, but i know all the software engineers where I live are making 30-50$ an hour right out of school in a low income area. My cousin landed his dream job writes programs and works from home making 45$ an hour. A lot of it is documented. But yea Im definitely not in a position of power. And thats why this situation pisses me off. I am incurring a lot of opportunity cost working on building this business instead of getting a job elsewhere and getting paid a pretty lot. I am a person who has been down this path before (a couple of times actually) it all depends on who's side your looking at it from. His side= I do all this work, I make all these sacrifices etc etc
Bro side= I took him in, he works but I give him all of this and that and it is my place I can do what I want.
