fair enough, but they also attack without warning.. a friend of mine used to do volunteer work with mentally handicapped children and would regularly come home with bite marks.. he almost lost his life once when he was driving one of them around. the kid punched him in the back of the head and knocked him out.. while he was driving. luckily he was at a stop light and had his unconscious foot on the brake..can you imagine if that happened on the freeway? anyways.. they definitely are dangerous, some are akin to wild animals in a way.. im guessing you've never heard of "retard strength"?

No, there aren't any state funded homes. Ontario has had major cutbacks and now a lot of people that can't take care of their children are being forced to. You can't just blame the parents because it's easy too.

wow what? I've volunteered in one capacity or another for the last twenty years including with handicapped children, psych patients and inmates (an art program) how would offering to help one of my neighbors out be any different?


Look, when my house burned down my community raised a little over 5 k in two days to help us out along with innumerable donations for household stuff, clothing, gift cards to go DO stuff and about a bazillion offers to watch kids while we dealt with everything.
Nevermind which my neighbors son had to be stopped from running into a 5 alarm fire because he didn't realize we had gotten out safely.

The power was out here for 14 days two years back from a freak snow storm that took down pretty much every power line and most of the utility poles and a shitload of trees. It was like the apocolypse. Think no power, no fuel and no way to travel normal roads. The national guard was deployed because emergency services couldn't get anywhere (I did fine driving across lawns in an awd audi cuz the truck wouldn't fit anywhere )
Everyone that had chain saws helped cut out trees out of the road, off neighbors houses etc. Everyone with generators, wood stoves and other heat sources helped shelter those that didn't have heat sources..all the restaurants severed free food before it was junk from no power.

I dont see why helping neighbors out with an autistic child would be any different. I have extensive experience and they're my neighbors...why wouldn't I?

I actually mentioned horseback riding because I've volunteered to do that too (there's a local place here that does horse therapy with autistic kids)...they really respond well to animals.

I have a friend that I went to high school with that used to be a big bodybuilder, was a diesel mechanic...big guy, anyway he hit a parked car on his harley at 60-some-odd mph, shit faced of course without a brain bucket. Anyway, he survived but is now retarded and has a great deal of physical motor deficits

you could have knocked me over with a feather when he went into my garage unannounced and my shepherd not only didn't bite him ( bit everyone) but he just sat down and let the guy pet him.
Anyway, he would stop and visit my shepherd regularly after that and it always seemed to calm him down.

We taught him to drive again. We even took him mud bogging with us a few times...

also, my ex husbands sister is retarded from a brain injury in infancy
