Hey guys,

I don't know if this is the best thread to ask this but i will anyway. I was squatting today and i went down, past parallel, and on my way back up i felt something pop in my lower back. I was leaning forward too far and it felt like my spine kinda popped. I don't know exactly what that means but now it hurts to lean over or even walk. I can feel it on the left side of my body mostly. I was only doing 285lbs so i guess it coulda been worse. Any advice i would greatly appreciate. Im icing it as i type this....i don't know what to do. Please let me know if u have any useful advice.

thanks.

BTW...the shitty part about this is I'm on my second week of a cycle of test. Im miserable.

I have done the same thing but am not quite comfortable giving advice on your back bro...Hopefully some of the vets will chime in and help you out....It always hits my left side, and I got it last time from deadlifting. Got a little lax on form for just a second and twinge....good luck, I think you should be alright if you really messed it up you would not be walking.....

CHIROPRACTOR ASAP! let a good one put you straight, then take it easy for a bit.

Get an X-ray performed. Sounds like it could be a ruptured disc, seems like some type of impingement of the nerves. Does pain radiate down your leg? Does it hurt yet also go numb? Can you feel it run down your sciatic nerve? If so, then I would go to an M.D.

Go to the doctor. I've had this happen to me several times over the years, and it's never gotten better on its own. It's probably pretty minor, in which case they'll give you some cortico-steroids (not sure about that spelling), and you'll be feeling better in a few days. If so, your training shouldn't be hindered to terribly, but you'll probably have to take it easy on your back for a few weeks.

I't happens, don't do anything that bothers your lower back, take some Aleve, in a couple of days try to stretch it out, if you feel better try very light squats and work on your form, if it does not start to feel better go to the chiropractor. I have had it several times over the years and only once have i had to go to the chiropractor

thanks guys.....i went to the chiropractor the day after i made the post. I should b ok....the dr said it is a sprained muscle/possibly tore. Im just glad it wasn't a disc.

take time off stretch and take motrin need to keep inflammation down. ice it nightly. In two days if its still tender go get an x ray. DO NOT SEE A CHIROPRACTOR.. My buddy went to a sports specialized one got his back "aligned" and ended up having to get 2 back surgery to fix the chiropractors fuck up. He got a huge law suit, but now can not lift more then his bodyweight. With reigning of your spine its going to do nothing unless you stretch daily and work your knots out. Also if your muscles are over bearing they will just pull you back out of alignment. I get a lacrosse ball and roll on it every night and get a two hour massage twice a month. I have ZERO knots in my back now and no back pain. My wife is an athletic trainer so we go through all the rehap every night for stretching.

Invest in a THICK legit belt. Not some wall-mart special. You may drop 100$ on it but its worth it. Check out inzers site.. Make sure its racked TIGHT i have to have a spoter just to get my belt on me. Never lift squats with out a spot even lighter weight its dangerous. I have slipped with 405 on my back and 405 is still in my working sets of 16 reps. So its light, but keeping your balance with that weight can be dangerous. Wear knee straps as well to save your knees.

My old powerlifting coach would NEVER go past 3 reps with squats because after the 3rd rep he would say your form goes away and its to easy to get injured. I go high volume for bodybuilding but that may be something to consider as well if your form is sloppy. Also working out more core muscles. I do allot of lower back and core work outs. You tube powerlifting warm ups.
