    I like overhead extensions, kickbacks, and cable pushdowns. I used to like skullcrushers, too, but I figured I'd like to keep my brain in my head for a while longer!! :D

    No pad for me, either. I like to feel what the bar is doing back there-- especially when using max weight. :thumb:

    Why did ou start working out???

    I was a weak, skinny kid of 17 who was already developing low back problems because of weak muscles. So, instead of going to a doc and swallowing a bunch of pills, I hit the iron. And it worked! :rocker:

    how much do you bench BB vs DB

    My BB 1rm is about 215, while my db max is about 85. Seems like a fairly common ratio. Trying like hell to get those numbers up, though! :headbang:

    Anyone else hitting their knees during Dead Lifts?

    Happens to me all the time. The closer you get the weight to your center of gravity, the easier it is to lift. Unfortunately, it has a nasty tendency to graze your shins a little. :doh:

    I agree. I have been lifting for about 17 years, and I've never used a belt. I've also never injured my back in the weightroom. :)

    Goofy things you see in the gym..

    So, what exactly is moronic about following squats with leg extensions? Seriously, I'd like to know this, because that's the way I work my legs. In any workout, I always start with the heaviest exercises (like squats) when my muscles are fresh and rested, and follow that up with some isolation...

    How often do you train?

    3 days a week. Day 1-chest, shoulders, tris. Day 2-back, bis. Day 3, legs. I hit abs on all workout days, and do cardio twice a week. ;)

    Just to add to what's already been said--it was never a good idea for me to go super heavy on bent rows. I find that by going really heavy, my form suffers (I cheat), and I get almost no benefit from doing them that way. I always get a great pump in my lats when I go fairly light on them.(60%...

    dumbells - where to get these

    Wal Mart carries a kit almost exactly the same as the one in that pic, except the plates are chrome instead of black. :)

    How much do I max on bench???

    For my heavy sets, I typically use about 65-70 lbs for 5 or 6 reps. If I went any heavier than that right now, I'd probably look something like this: :barf: :laugh:

    I'd say 120-130% is close. My max barbell bench is about 215, but I can only max with 80 lb db's. :cry: I guess it has to do with the greater stability of the barbell. :bulb:

    Yeah, I remember being 14....lots of things can make you feel weird at that age. 2 things you should do---no.1: don't worry about it, because almost every guy your age goes through much the same thing. No.2: enjoy being a teenager. Life's too short to worry it away. :)
