I am 5'2" tall, and am 114 lbs. I am hoping to compete in the 103 lb weight class this wrestling season.
Weight Scedule
2 Weeks from now-First weigh in, body fat % check.
3 Weeks from that, matches start.
So I need to be down to 103 for one day in two weeks, and then need to stay around 106 the day before the rest of the season.
I know that people recomend losing no more than two lbs a week, but that clearly won't work. What kind of diet could I use that would help me lose the least muscle / any tips?

6 pounds a week? The only way you'll manage that is either by complete starvation or by weighing in very dehydrated..

Drop water. Done correctly and one can lose 8-10 pounds of water in a day or 2.

And this is why you see collegiate wrestlers dying from heat exhaustion..

Put on a hoodie and sweats, and sit in a sauna. Or better yet, do jumping jacks in there.

eat no carbs for a 5 days prior to the weigh in.

Exellent. I was 112 today, so only 9 to go now. So, 5 days before, no carbs, no sodium. 1 day before, no food, and workout in sweats before the weigh in. Thanks

Edit: Oh shaz, they do hydration testing through urine. Anyway I could bypass this? Would mply adding water to urine work?

Is it me, or does this sound like a reallllly bad idea...

What do they do, look at the color of your piss? Make sure you don't take a vitamin that day. :D

I wouldn't worry too much about sodium, just don't add any since most low carb meals will have plenty in the meat or cheese, etc.

Alright thanks, and no, they but one of those colored strips in it, I think its an acidity test.

If it's a ketone strip you might wanna scratch the no carb deal.

I never said it was healthy but you would make weight requirements. I would never suggest wrestling that day though.

Uhoh.

And why is that, Dale?

Ketones are a breakdown product of fat, the strip would tell if you are doing it right or if you are losing too much muscle. I guess that is what he means, I don´t think it is very precise though.

I was too lazy to read the above posts, I don´t even think that you are talking about this.

This really doesn't sound so healthy...no food for one day? working out in sweats? severe dehyration and possibly passing out...

What the hell condition are you going to be in when you have to wrestle in a week or so after fasting and not drinking water for so long?

I don't need wrestle then, the weigh-in is for certification only.

I did this for eight years of high school and college wrestling I would be 210 on the off-season, for the first match be at 189, and before the middle of the season i would be at 171. The techniques used to drop the weight fast are not very good for the body but i got all the weight down in about a month.

But they could do some long term damage. Are you actually going to go through with this hawk?
