Hey all. It's been almost 2 years since I have ran a cycle. All have been mild and with proper PCT etc... I am 36 and had the doc check my test level and it is 252. The nurse left a message and said they had a Rx for me called in to the pharmacy. I picked it up and it is 200mg cypionate every 4 weeks. 1 pin a month! Even the pharmacist was wondering why that dose was prescribed. I am going in to talk to them in the morning.

My thoughts are will that even raise my levels worth a crap and it will not keep my blood levels stable with the 8 day half life. Any thoughts on why the doc would even prescribe like this? Anyone heard of this before?

Doctor doesn't know what he is doing. I went through that too with my GP....he had me on 200mg every 3 weeks...my test levels actually went down! (from like 127 to like 94).... So got an endo and went to 200mg every two weeks...didn't work...then 150mg every week...worked but I could feel levels were up and down. I currently take 100mg every 5 days...my levels are stable in the 520-550 range....I was lab tested 2 days after injection and again on day of next injection and there was little change in levels. IMO Testosterone Cypionate should be dosed every 5 days to be stable. It took me like 6 months to get all this straightened out and a lot of labs. Total pain in my ass but at least I am stable at a reasonable level. Its not amazing and I'd like more, but its better than where I was and my levels are solid as it can possibly get.

Hey Cav, I remember you. Odd but my last cycle was two years ago too when I was active on this site and here I am back after my dr put me on TRT. I haven't cycled in two years as well. My general dr put me on 100 mg a week. I'm doing my first blood test tomorrow since being put on trt. My test levels were 280 a year ago and the same this year. Actually, let me back track, dr put me on androgel first for two months and I asked him to change it to injections b/c the gel was making my shoulders break out and was very inconvenient but I knew I would eventually ask for injections. I just played the game the first two months. I picked up some Test C and after my blood test tomorrow I plan to do a small blast then come back down to cruise dose when it's time to test again. Anyways good to see ya around again.

My doc has me on 200mg every week

Docs will try and do this if they are not well versed in trt as they make decisions based off ignorance and will prob take you at least 3-6mnths of blood work to dial you in unleash you go to an endo or urologist to get you on point faster imo. You may just have to go off them like I had too.

200 a month is real old school. That used to be what they thought would be adequate. It defies logic now. In fact, its just dumb.

200 a month is worthless. you need about 200 weekly.
I do a heavy handed 100mg every 3 days. I can tell if I miss a shot for a couple days. I start getting tired and less motivated. Libido drops.
Cyp may stay in your system for ..I think 11-13 days but its only really at high output for like 24 hours. Then it slowly tapers off. By day 4 -5 your subhuman levels again.

twice a week keeps blood hormone levels stable. Remember TRT is a lifetime deal and it effects so many facets of your life its important to get it right. Every 3 days 100mg is where its at.

That's interesting. Why does it take so long before you see results? I just did my blood test so I'm in the clear to do a small blast. I'm thinking 125 mg twice a week. I respond well on low doses of test. My last cycle was 500 mg a week and i got jacked and was obviously on something. I'm gonna see how I do on the 250 mg a week and adjust from there. I actually gained on 100 mg a week but I had low test levels so that might be why.

I haven't done a shot in 5-6 days before the blood tests and I've been feeling more tired. I wonder if its b/c my test is low? Sorry Cav, don't mean to hijack your thread.

Do you mean why does it take so long for test to really get working on cycle?

Here is why.
So if we assume 11-13 days in your system total each injection.

You get a stacked effect. SO Eventually there are several injections releasing at once. Say you inject every 3 days.
By the time you do your fourth injection the first is still in your system at a low level. So you have 4 injections releasing.
It takes 70+ days for full effect. Here is a chart to explain it. This is 250mg every 3 days. Youll notice it doesnt reach full speed till day 71.

Day 1: 250mg T, 0mg E/D/TInjection Day
Day 2: 226.4mg T, 0mg E/D/T
Day 3: 205.1mg T, 0mg E/D/T

Gotcha. That makes sense. I'm coming up on 30 days since my first injection and I'm starting to feel the effects. But I was on androgel for two months before that.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
ANdrogel doesnt work well for alot of people. My Dr scripts a 10% compounded cream that works well. 200mg daily had me at about 1100ng/dl
Androgel is 1% so.....you would need 20 grams per day to reach 200mg compared to a 10% which is 100mg per gram.
You know those tubes...they are one gram. So 20 of those.

AMEN!
I would not push more then every week with cyp or enth.

tell him nicly he dosnt understand hormones, ask for ref to an ENDO or find a new doc

Well I went in and talkes with the nurse. Doc wasnt available. He's a DO which better than a GP. He listens to my wife and I takes our thoughts into consideration so I hope he will listen. I talked with the nurse and explained the half life and how the pharmacist even disagreed. She said that it was to start a baseline. He wants me to come in in3 weeks and get bloodwork to see where they are at. It doesnt take a rocket surgeon to know I will be back to same level or lower. Hopefully he listens to me and doesnt jack me around and gets me where I need to be quick. Otherwise, I will ask him to refer me to a specialist. Insurance is set up on a PCM so I have to get the referral from him before insurance will cover it.

Hey RippedG, I def remember you. I hope you get it all worked out soon.

Brundel, Thanks for the chart. I will take that in to my doc.

When you go back and they are lower or the same just ask for a referral. Just tell him you tried to explain this would happen and the theory they are using as a "baseline" is not logical. Tell him you cannot keep waiting weeks to feel better and you need dosing to be done appropriate and quickly. I assume you read my story but it took like 6 months and lots of labs to get it right. My levels are in the low/mid 500's. I will try to find a doctor to increase dose eventually because I'm not too satisfied at that level. I am really shooting to be around 700-800...obviously higher would be even better however it would be a trick to find a doctor to do it. I am basing my expectations off where I think I should be at my age. Even at 500's I am making nice gains and getting a lot stronger and quickly. I feel like I'm gaining like I was when I was 18...just holding onto more BF than I've ever had. I guess that is what low 100's and double digits will do to you.

So anyways play that game until the 3 weeks is up and ask nicely for a referral that you need to see an endo. Show that you've done research and they should listen. It took me and my endo about 1 month to fix my issues maybe a little longer. Every 5 days on Cypionate seem to be just fine for me. I feel no ups and downs and labs prove it to be stable.

Trojanman - Thanks for the info. I will bring in my scientific studies and show him. If he doesnt do what I want or have the same goals for levels then I will get a referral. I surely do not want to be jackin around for months to get my levels right. I want to be blasting by then.

Understand that that chart is for 250mg every 3 days. So levels are more than double what they would be on HRT.

My GP had me start at that dosage also. Gave me the same crap as a baseline, blah, blah, blah. Went along with it even after many discussions and after 4 months on that schedule, my levels went from 107 to 174. After I asked him if he was scheduling to get me into my range by the time I was Medicare's problem ( I was 43 at the time), I kicked him to the curb and found someone willing to do some research and get me moving in the right direction. Too many Dr's know a little about a lot of things, wasting both of your times, but then usually send you to the specialists anyway...

When you're dealing with a GP they usually proceed with extreme caution when giving any controlled drug. Its not their expertise and they dont want to get into hot water giving people drugs. I've had similar issues getting my xanax dosed properly...getting my test dosed to where I was at least in normal range took an endo as well...I see a GP as a place to go for a cold or something. If you need controlled drugs find out what specialist deals with it and you'll have much faster results in my experiences.

Thanks Brundel, I was going to put in an excel sheet and lower the numbers for him.

My GP prescribed me TRT. Started me on 100 mg a week and I just took my first blood test. I've been doing closer to 150 mg a week though but if my test level comes in low I'm going to ask him to increase the dose.

Can't you just ask the doctor before you even start what level he would shoot for? Doc, I want to be at 800, so what do you think about that? If he answers, I think you are just looking to score steroids, then walk out.

just holding onto more BF than I've ever had.
Cut, cut, cut!

I went back to the doc 2 weeks after the 200mg of test Cyp. Spoke with the doc and he said that this was an initial dose to see where I was after 2 weeks of 200mg. I told him I thought I would be same or less. He said that if my levels came back at that he would increase the dose and that he wanted my levels around 700. Well the levels cam back slightly lower and he bumped me up to 150mg every week. He wants me to come back in 2 weeks for another blood test to see where I am at. He expressed the same concern as I did about trying to get to ~700 as quickly as possible. I think he is going to work with me and not be like your regular GP. He is a DO and has impressed me thus far so it doesnt look like I will have to wait 6 months to still not have good levels and ask to switch to specialist.

Does he perscribe HCG and and AI for you also? I started using Formeron myself insted of Arimidex which I do like better.

Just thought I would update. I went in and had levels tested again and I am at 675 now. He wants to keep at same dose and check again in a few weeks and make sure that I am still close to or above ~700.

200 a month is worthless. you need about 200 weekly.
I do a heavy handed 100mg every 3 days. I can tell if I miss a shot for a couple days. I start getting tired and less motivated. Libido drops.

Very well said! The hard part is trying to convice your Endo on this

IMO your opinion is right...my guy has me on 150 every 5 days, test cyp, with HCG & occasional HMG to keep the boys healthy...

Agreed, went to urologist and he put me on 100mg/ml/wk... I take 200mg/ml/wk but that is a good dose for me.. I also take arimidex .5mg 3X/wk... I had a GP appointment for something else and they just happened to have to check my T testosterone and it was 897, and that was when I had just started 200mg/ml/wk.. I suspect it was a little higher because it was 4 days after my injection......Just my two cents....WOW this beer is going down very quickly...LOL
