I just read an article from Mountain Bike Magazine... and one of the writers was saying that it didn't really matter what your liquid intake was as long as it equaled the 64 oz.
He gave coffee and juices as example's for fluid intake, obviously you couldn't drink 64 oz of beer and have it count as your daily intake.

Does this seem true?

For one thing, coffee is a diuretic, so you would end up losing more water than you ingest eventually. I have a feeling that guy doesn't really know what he's talking about.

I agree, you really shouldn't count coffee pop beer, etc towards your 'liquid' for the day. Juice could count however.

Never realized that coffee was a diuretic. I guess that would have answered one of my questions from my "water in water out" post. I drink two small cups of the stuff in the AM then move on to water.

Nope I don't think so, I'm from FL and it called soda here. Never heard it called pop.

I think decaf tea or decaf coffee could count for water intake because getting rid of the caffeine gets rid of the diuretic.

I always called it soda out on the east coast but living in the midwest now they call it pop here too. I think its sounds funny so I still call it soda.

Down here we call it "Coke" everything is Coke. If you ask someone what they want to drink and they say Coke, you would say what kind? Sprite? DP? or plain Coke? I think Jeff Foxworthy had made that one of his jokes...

And that was my point regarding coke -- everything is coke....its like kleenex or q-tip....
