I'm 37 and I'm still using acne control products. Runs in my family. Washing twice a day helps prevent acne. Less than that and my acne worsens. So, I'd say, more washing = better.
I think Sassy is on point. Too much drying will cause the skin to over produce oil. I was reading and jojobo oil helps regulate the skins natural oil production.
I had a bad case of acne after a cycle and tried all kinds of combinations from Target. It got maybe 25% better but I still looked like a teenage kid. My last resort before trying something as sever as accutane, was acne.org(I googled it and it had really high reviews).
His products are here

Its a three step process with benzol peroxide(2.5%). He claims that the 10% is overkill and cleans the same way as 2.5% without drying the skin out. One week later and my skin went to 75% better. Id say its worth the small investment and he has a guarantee that if you dont like it, just send it back.
I know the above wasnt asked, just felt like I should promote(I am in no way affiliated with the company) what I felt worked since we are talking about acne.
Good luck
Im a white shirt guy all day and ill buy shirts over and over if this keeps my acne at bay.Acne.org has the best price on benzoyl peroxide that I've found anywhere. After accutane, the best acne treatment is benzoyl peroxide imo. I tried lots of things. Just be careful what clothes you wear, it can bleach them.
