Hey, I'm trying to figure what kind of supplements too take... but I feel as if when I go to GNC they just try to sell me the most branded stuff with out me really knowing what I am purchasing.

I am currently taking

GNC Flax seed oil gel pills. (1 in the morning)
Norwegian Gold Super Critical Omega Fish Oil (1 in the morning)
New Chapter Organics Every Man Multi vitamins (3 in the morning)

Muscletech Nitro Tech Protein (1 scoop Post workout)
Muscletech Anabolic Halo (1 scoop post workout)

I don't want to be fooled by purchasing the most flashy brand, I want a premium product that will enhance my training and result to its maximum potential. Any recommendations on what I could add or different brands ?

gnc sucks, go to vitamin shoppe and read the threads here.

What a surprise. You came out of GNC with some Muscletech crap, lol.

There are lots of useful threads if you look through this section.
Type of supplements will depend on your goals, diet and training though.
It's called a supplement for a reason..

The fat dude behind the counter at GNC gets a per item commission. MuscleTech usually has the best at $5 per bottle. Fizogen is usually $3-$5. Some can be more or less depending on the week. That is why they push that crap on everyone. There is even a commission on some of the GNC products. Way toooooo expensive for anything in a GNC store.

Get some bulk creatine, BCAA's and maybe some beta alanine. That is all you need to start outside of your multi vit and fish oil. Save your money and focus on diet outside of these basics. Most other are a rip off and just marketing hype or for reasons an advanced user not an amateur.

  • GNC Flax seed oil gel pills. (1 in the morning)**Ditch. Flax oil won't do shit for you, the ALA just won't convert to any appreciable degree to EPA/DHA. Not that one gram of flax oil would do anything for you anyway.
  • Norwegian Gold Super Critical Omega Fish Oil (1 in the morning)**take at least 3 of these daily. This is a good supplement; it has over a gram of EPA/DHA per capsule; I take enough fish oil to get in 3g EPA/DHA daily.
Super Critical Omega Fish Oil Supplement, Omega-3 Fish Oils for Brain, Heart, Joints, Mood
  • New Chapter Organics Every Man Multi vitamins (3 in the morning)**finish the bottle, then get a cheap multi at the drugstore
  • Muscletech Nitro Tech Protein (1 scoop Post workout)**finish the tub, then get whatever whey protein is on sale and tastes good.
  • Muscletech Anabolic Halo (1 scoop post workout)**finish the tub, then buy a tub of dextrose at your local you-brew (it's sold as "corn sugar", and it should cost about five bucks for a kg or two) and some cheap creatine monohydrate. For a post-workout shake, toss a scoop of protein powder, a half a scoop of dextrose and a heaping teaspoon of creatine monohydrate into a shaker cup, add water, shake and knock back.

Welcome to physical culture. You've been hosed by overpriced supps, but they won't hurt you.

I couldnt agree more with all said above. Save your money.

Protein is not just protein. However, whey protein is just whey protein for the most part. Dont buy into the marketing hype of this hydrolyzed whey protein absorbs faster and makes better gains. For the price difference it doesnt make a shit.

When looking at the proteins as far as whey vs egg vs milk vs casine there is a difference. If you can find a good mixed protein with whey for fast , egg or milk for medium and casein for long digesting youre better. I get most of my protein from my diet and only supplement 2 shakes of whey sometimes 3 usually post cardio workout and 1 hour pre my weight workout at lunch. I eat enough hard boiled eggs, cottage chz and chicken through the day. I usually just get the walmart 6 star brand. Tastes good and does the trick. I am about to just get the 10lber of optimum nutrition. Hope this helps.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
I use ON also because its the most servings for the money. ( was just curious about the post of cheapest protein)
I have a hardtime getting my protein grams without supplementing,,, figures pizza and chips i can eat forever but clean foods make me full,,,lol 2 more weeks and I will be good to go. Once I start I get really anal...I would eat cardboard by the ton if I thought it would help...lol

The differences between isolate, concentrate and hydrolyzed protein in terms of nutrition are minimal. Isolate tastes the best. Concentrate is the cheapest. Hydrolyzed tastes like ASS.

With regard to the egg/casein/whey thing, if you're eating actual food, this doesn't mean shit. It might matter a bit more if you're on a very low calorie, all-protein-shake diet but other than that, save your money.

Hell, just drink chocolate milk postworkout. It's been clinically proven effective for this application.

ON double chocolate gold standard tastes pretty good. So does Costco Kaizen chocolate isolate - 40 bucks a tub.

I prefer ON double chocolate as well. They have plenty of other flavors too that taste very good. But besides that, get you some BCAA's and if you want, a good preworkout supp like NOX or if you'd ask me I'd recommend Jack3d.

hehe, he actually looked pretty roided up

I went to gnc a few months back and was looking at there special case that they lock up and the old women that worked there:hmmm: came up and said have you tried tbomb2 all the kid's are taking it thses days.I said all do respect mam all your items in there are overpriced and suck she kind of got mad and walked off.GNC= overpriced shit

Please don't fall again for the flash in GNC store. If you go there again just go to ON product section. Its about the only good product they carry. I also like the CYTO Sport Gainer as well. Other than those two the rest of the stuff they sell is crap.

I forgot to add that they carry Jacked 3d and that shit is the bomb.

There is one important Antioxidant that plays a important role in recovery for athletes. Glutathione plays many roles on a cellular level. But is a neccesity in our performance at a natural state. It is diffenently key player in your energy that comes from your cells.

Geez you guys I used to work at GNC and I knew my shit pretty well...

I've been suprised though by how "low" you consider it to be - I mean hey they do sell all of the raw ingredients to get in shape, what's the fuss?

HOWEVER, I have been shopping at Vitamin Shoppe lately and I'm impressed with them more...

I love the chocolate milk study!
