Ya so i'm trying to do squats at home but i need weight. I don't have the money nor the room for a squat rack. I was wondering if anyone knew of an inventive way to putting alot of weight on your shoulders other than the bar.

I guess two thing i'm trying to over come. Getting enough weight on my shoulders (I'm trying to do low reps, high weight), and with that much weight I need a way to get it from the ground to my back without hurting myself. Any ideas?

learn to clean and jerk.

clean the bar to your shoulders, jerk overhead, place it on your traps. When done, jerk it back ovehead and place it on the floor. Or clean it into position and front squat.

do you have room for a monolift?

what Pat said is great, learn how to clean and jerk and invest in some bumper plates so you can just dump it on the floor when done.

Ya but bars are expenesive like 200 bucks, then a set of weights are also expensive. I'm just a college student. Any other ideas?

your collage should have a gym

I don't have access to a squat rack too -- and most people tell me the best alternative is Hack Squats. Not very pleasant to do but you can handle alot of weight-- after all hack squat is the original squat

i'm pretty sure deep knee bends (oldschool name for squats) were around long before Hackenschmidt (whatever his name is) was alive.
