I am currently trying to gain mass and enjoy eating tuna/eggs etc however i soon get bored of them if i eat them daily cooked the same way e.g tin of tuna with bolied pasta etc so can you guys give me any reciepies for a high protein meal that is quick to make (i.e in the morning before work/the night before?)

Thanks
p.s i tried viewing the sub-forum (prince) at the top and i couldnt get the recipies to appear!

Quick to make?

Slices of Turkey with a carbohydrate. Simple, boring, yet effective.

yeah i thought of that , you mean turkey with pasta etc,

i should also mention that ive been dirnking whey protein for the last 3 months with a gain but have now decided to give it up as i want to get my diet right without relying on whay as well, so the higher the protein the better!

A lot of people don't care for what I eat, but I really like tuna with barbecue sauce (I prefer Montgomery Inn sauce). I've been spicing up my eggs lately with Tabasco sauce too. It's something different, but I don't get tired of things too easily so I rarely have to change what I'm eating.

For eggs, I like frittatas a lot. Just take a bunch of veggies, and saute in a medium-size nonstick pan (about 9-10"). (Onions, zucchini, peppers, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, whatever. For carbs, you can add diced potato or sweet potato, or cooked rice/grains of any kind. I've even made ones in which I pour just enough boiling water over a scoop of cornmeal to cover, let it soften and cool, then beat the eggs in and pour over the veggies.) Season to theme (e.g. onions and peppers with cumin, garlic and chile powder for a kinda Mexican air; spinach and garlic with Italian seasonings, etc.). Pour the eggs on top, cover, turn the heat down to medium-low, and cook for 10-15 minutes (depending on the number of eggs) until the top is just set.

Now you have two options. If your pan is oven-safe, or you want to risk the foil-over-the-handle trick, you can preheat your oven broiler, and stick the thing under it for a few minutes to toast the top. Or else, flip the entire thing (carefully) using a plate, reverse it back into the pan, and cook till lightly browned.

These are very nicely portable (just cut 'em in quarters and plonk into a container) and are good at room temperature, or even cold. Plus they are infinitely variable, according to your tastes and fridge.

Then there's stir-fries, which are dead easy if you keep a batch of cooked brown rice and some soy sauce or Bragg's in your fridge. Again, you can use whatever veg you have (even a frozen "Asian blend" will do in a pinch) and any protein, or mix of protein, you like. Even eggs, if you want.

Funny you should mention that...I personally don't eat bbq sauce when I'm trying to cut due to the high sugar content but this week I tried something new and it is SO delicious. It's Starkist Tuna Creations in Hickory Smoked flavor. WOW. I think I could eat it all day long (but I don't). It comes in the pouch so you don't have to drain it. It's a little pricey as far as tuna goes since 1 pouch is 1 serving for me and not 2.5 like it says on the pouch.

The ingredients list "natural smoke flavoring". Wonder exactly what that is and if I can buy it and add to plain tuna myself.

ton of sodium in tabasco.

as far as tuna...
a lot of times i end up eating tuna right out of the can with a plastic fork. :rocker: try adding olive oil & some balsamic vinegar. i've had tuna & mustard, tuna & salsa.

I don't add much and I don't do it every day so I figure it probably won't hurt me too bad.

Yes. I find it either with the spices, or with the vinegary-oily things, depending which store I'm in. I can get it in Hickory or what I like to call Mosquito flavour. Just a little bottle, mine have blue labels. I think they make it by condensing the flavoured smoke somehow.

If you do find it, it also rocks sprinkled on chicken/turkey breast with a dash of Bragg's Aminos before baking.

Awesome! Thanks Akateros. :D

I like cutting up a sirloin steak and throwing it in a hot skillet with some Pam sprayed in it. Add steak seasoning, onions, and shrooms!

Another thing I like is fresh peeled shrimp, throw in skillet with Pam, cook til they are white in color, add in a can of flavored stewed/sliced tomato, steak seasoning, when done throw it ontop of pasta.

God I tried the Hickory Smoked and the Lemon Pepper and now I'm addicted to flavor pouch tuna. Sucks, because of the cost and because I don't think I can go back to doing the bulk cans of tuna at Costco. lol

yep - i hear ya. i made the same mistake - started an expensive tuna habit. ;)

I add 1 or 2 tbsp light casers salad dressing to the tuna to give it some flavour. For carbs, i add 1cup diced boiled potato + 1cup boiled peas, with a dash of salt and pepper. Perfect P+C meal.

mmmm....white or red potato. I miss those. Soooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I like to plend 5 eggs and half a can of SPAM. I chopp the other half of the SPAM and put it in the egg, SPAM mix to make spamm and cheese omlette, top with salsa or BBQ sauce.

MMM MMMMMMM GOOD

It is a good treat once and a while makes great tacos and nachos too.

Yuck. Never did like Spam myself. It also has a lot of sodium.
SPAM? :barf: :shake:

"Spam" and "Treat" should not be used in the same sentence. I would never 'treat' myself to some cheap salty pseudo-meat.

Peace.

Sara Lee makes some whole wheat pita pockets. each one is close to 20 grams of carbs. 1 can of tuna + some salad fixings easily fits inside...

whole wheat tortilla. throw on some bbq sauce. dump on tuna. mix. eat. mmm. tastes like a bbq chicken pizza...but without the pizza crust, or cheese, or chicken.... :)

now im hungry. shit.

thanks for the replies, now ive got something to work with! is it possible to eat too much tuna, its just it high in protein etc so i its a v.attractive option when trying to gain mass?

also should i ditch the whey or jsut concentrate on it in a PWO shake?

well b4 ditching them i had one first thing and a second pwo or on a rest day just b4 bed

tuna + rice + stir fried frozen veggies + soy/hot sauce = good
just shake and eat.
