Ill make the poll anonymous, but Ill be first to admit, when I first came here I worked out bodyparts, like an insane "chest" day. Lots of volume. I posted it up in here and it was hammered, but I did see great gains.

:hot: For me its a lil different now with the way I understand things, but in any case, anyone still swimming against the stream regardless of what people say about rests, volume, intensity, exercise selection etc? :hot:

My whole original routine was totally flawed. I basically chucked in whatever I felt like, and did it 3 times a week, same exersices (extreme amount of volume) and reps etc. Never changing.
But it sure worked.

Glad I saw the light. All because of IM.:)

When I first came here I'd been lifting off and on since my mid teens and have added more than 60 pounds of mostly muscle. I thought I knew my shit and came here just to study roids. I was going to hit the gear because that's what I thought I needed to do to get past my plateau. When I came in here and looked around I found out I didn't know jack shit. I changed my entire way of doings things from my diet to my lifting schedules and my routines. My walk around weight is now above my old plateau with the same waist line and with no chemicals used ... yet.

I do see a few cycles of tren, test, and an HGH in my near future tough. So yeah ... I'm hard headed.

I take a lot from what I have read here, but with anything your researching, having numerous GOOD sources will only help.

I think we all did that, and I would still train a person looking for physique that way. I went through a phase where I would never do it, but IMO that is the way to train someone looking for that.

I posted my diet and workout routine and got beat up pretty good. It was all helpful though, I'm on a push/pull.legs program now instead of a split and getting the diet sorted out. I'm slowly upping my calories right now.

I will say that many people on here approach things with a different intensity level than the rest of the members. Thats important to keep in midn when reading some of the advice.

I got slammed for having to much volume and doing a 5 day split. I still workout this way and am having lots of gains. I have gotten some great advice from some people here though, especially from LT81 who gave me bench tips and my bench went up 20lbs.

I think everyone just needs to find what works for them. Lots of volume and training 5 day's a week works for me, but doesn't work for everyone.

Here is the thing. I use to train body parts rather than movements and I was seeing good gains. I wasn't eating enough and still saw gains. I was over training and still saw gains.

After switching to the methodologies outlined by Pfunk, CP, and Jody, my gains jumped quantum leaps. I am lucky in the fact that I can make good gains with terrible training practices, but I never came close to my max potential until I stopped being hard headed long enough to adopt the new principles.

Moral of the story is listen to the veterans here.

See thats the ticket. Your story about growing is the same as mine.

However, if I trained then like I trained now, I prolly wouldve gotten my gains a lot faster.

I wish I had this shit (forums) when I was working out. You college and high school kids are some lucky little fuckers.

Lawl, don't open that can of worms buddy. But, yeah, you're right. The knowledge would have done me a world of good back in highschool.

I think everyone here will never find an optimal routine, because the optimal routine will change in accordance with your bodies adaptations and limitations.

People who stick with the same thing too long are defitently missing out on results

Wise words. I also remember the immortal words of Socrates..."I drank what?"

"My balls itch", Cheech Marion....

Oh wait a minute, got caught up in all the quotes. :)

Yeah I trained bodyparts just as I saw in mags, and did ok with it, but strength sucked! I dropped it and started doing upper/lower and things of that sort and I am much stronger than a buddy of mine who almost dwarfs me in size. But thats what he is going for size, I am all about strength and power (explosiveness)!

i think what your routine does to your is quite marginal.

the baseline is as long as you eat a lot and lift heavy, you will see good results.

having say that, good tips and advices are just going to help you get there faster and perhaps easier.

This site has taught me to bring more intensity and less volume. Because of this my strength and lbm have gone through the roof.

However, when I tried to change my diet (ex. eat clean) my progress stalled.

I can never seem to grow on a clean diet. So now I just eat whatever (within reason) and I am leaner and stronger then ever.

Ill actually agree with that one. It depends on the individual though. Mesomorphs will have to be more strict than an ectomorph in order to gain lbm without too much BF %.

I cleaned up my diet a LOT, but its still shitty. So I would say its "less worse" than it was before IM.

However, because of some allegid idiots who dont understand precautions, a semi-clean diet should 'never' be administered on here. Lousy reality.

I'm with this as well, my diet is still shitty, but now I know what I need in regards to caloric and protein intake, and I'm growing nicely. I had no clue about that shit prior to IM.

Dieting, supplement advice, and anything on anabolics, I WILL listen to cuz I am clueless to that shit.

However, I see a lot of hard headness on training. In fact, I used to see it a lot more, but nowadays, hardly anyone comes in and wants their program critiqued...I wonder why.
