My wife watches Oprah sometimes and I hear sexual things on that show every so often that Stern wouldn't have dared to say in the last few years.
DOMS said:There you go again, talking out your ass and trying to pin it on Bush. The FCC has been around a lot longer than six years. It was founded in 1934.
I know.
You make it sound as if the FCC had it out for Stern. The FCC has been warning Stern for many, many years that he was inviolation of FCC rules (This includes warnings that he recieved under the Clinton administration). Warning him and generally letting it end there. Rules that were passed by the majority of people in the US....
(Being a foreigner, you opinion of the FCC rules means dick).
In the end, all they did was fine the company that employed Stern.
Rules made bureaucrats that were elected by the majority of the people for the political outlook.Mr_Snafu said:Wrong: rules made by bureaucrats.
So, you're an American with a British passport living in France? And you like to prance around believing that you're an American? Whatever makes you happy, pal.Mr_Snafu said:Born and raised in the U.S.![]()
If his views weren't in line with his employers views, tough shit. Like that really matters (execpt in the world between your ears). All that matters in that he made them money. When he started to cost them serious money, and might risk doing it again, out he went.Mr_Snafu said:Check out the company (private company) and see what their political views are.
I absolutely love this line of reasoning. It shows that the speaker uses little reasoning. What about the others that speak ill of Bush? Why aren't they all censored? And remember, were talking about the real world and not the imaginary world of persecution that liberals live in. Stern got hit hard after more than a decade and half of warnings.Mr_Snafu said:Stern get hit hard when he decided to criticize the Bush amdinistration, and specifically said so himself.
This includes you, no?Mr_Snafu said:Have people forgotten this, already? Well, Americans do have short memories.

FCC bureaucrats are NOT elected, they are hired and are federal employess. The Secratary of the FCC is appointed by the President.

As American as you are. Born in the U.S., lived, educated, and worked in the U.S., and damn prouds of my country. I just don't live there anymore.
If his views weren't in line with his employers views, tough shit. Like that really matters (execpt in the world between your ears). All that matters in that he made them money.
Employer is not the same as owner.
If certain corporation - a few - own over 85% of all media outlets and have control over who edits, produces, directs, and writes, what do we have?
When he started to cost them serious money, and might risk doing it again, out he went.
Wrong: He never cost them money. The always made money with Stern (profits).
I absolutely love this line of reasoning.
Define it.
What about the others that speak ill of Bush? Why aren't they all censored?
They are NOT allowed access to the media outlets.
And remember, were talking about the real world and not the imaginary world of persecution that liberals live in. Stern got hit hard after more than a decade and half of warnings.
Classical and Neo-liberalism has nothng to do with corporations controlling the media, today.
Classical conservatives loathe Bush and fire salvos from the Op-Ed pages.
Neo-conservatism is liberalism in disguise.
Bush is not a conservative.
This includes you, no?
What?
