hey guys, was just wondering what you all thought of the army, and the marines. which you prefer and why, the pros and cons, the main differences between them. experiences youve had or heard about. anything at all. im having trouble deciding which to consider. i myself think the marines would be good. ive heard they work you hard but they turn you into a soldier, and that you eat well and sleep well. and same thing for the army, they work you pretty hard, except i heard you dont get to eat as well in the army?

as a marine more of your life will revolve around that fact

Marines are more of assult force A lot smaller then the Army.

Only 3Div left now

Lot of History in the Marines. Saved us in Korea

"Keeping his units concentrated and moving deliberately, Smith made an aggressive assault to break out of the reservoir. When asked if the Marines were retreating, Smith explained that their fighting withdrawal through Chinese lines did not constitute a retreat. His explanation was abbreviated into the famous misquote, "Retreat? Hell, we're attacking in a different direction!" (recalling the famous quote from Captain Lloyd Williams at Belleau Wood during the First World War, "Retreat? Hell, we just got here!").

i dont understand..?

being a marine is less conductive of having a life outside of the marines. "if the marines wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one" mentality still pervades the core. the marines take a greater portion of who you are so to speak. its difficult to understand the mentality, i guess you just have to have seen it to know.

watch the movie: Jarhead

so you make it sound like its more of a commitment, and that you arent able to have much of a life outside of the marines?

basically, once a marine, always a marine.

never an ex marine, only a former marine

semper fidelis, always faithful

so you make it sound like its more of a commitment, and that you arent able to have much of a life outside of the marines?

you seem to be getting the picture

Marines make Marines not soldiers, if you want to eat and live well join the Air Force...

its worth noting that the army is a ground force and the marines are part of the navy, I prefer the marines myself as i grew up on the coast and love the ocean. Also, look over the MOS opportunities, what kind of job do you want to do?

neither, join the Airforce.

If I were going to join the military the Air Force would be my first choice. But really it depends what kind of job you want. I think the Army has more different MOS's than the other branches.
