beginner: no burn?

Is it normal for a beginning weightlifter to not feel too much burn after workouts? I bought a book called The Men's Health Hard-Body Plan and I started it's beginner workout and when I was done I wasn't even sore or anything. The only burn I felt was during the excercise. I just want some input so that I don't keep going on something that's not working. Thanks in advance
 
delayed onset muscle sorness (DOMS) typically sets in 48 hours after the training session
 
My shoulders never get sore. My legs get sore as hell though.
 
IMO you dont have to be sore to make gains, my shoulders NEVER get sore after a workout, and i can do set after set as heavy as i can and my shoulders just wont get sore, but they grow :)
 
Why dont you share with the members what routine your using. I recommend a higher rep range for your first 6 months or so. Then you can start doing some power lifting.
