how far should u usually bend over for with bent over rows

right on thanks
my wrestling coach says i should be more upright, but i thought he was crazy on this like other things
he also says that u can spot reduce, that ur knees shouldn't move on squats, that fat is bad among other things
guess im just venting a bit

thanks for ur hlp stb

I'm sure he means well but i'd like to give him a smack. :nana:

I go as close to 90 as possible. the more parellel your spine is to the floor, the less you involve other muscles in the lift and can isolate the back. you should try doing it like this with a stable base and just isolating the movement by only pulling with your arms and not lifting your back to help with momentum. when your spine is not rounded and is kept stable in this position, it is hard to cheat, but maybe you want to cheat, I don't know what your training goals are. give it a try and do some strick pauses at the top of the lift, you will nail the back.

If your going to go to 90, you may as well do a seated row.

the seated row isn't as effective as the bent over rows, besides, I am not saying right at 90, but just to keep the back flatter instead of at an incline. It all depends on what area of the back you are trying to hit and what type of grip you are using, but it is a good way to perform strick reps without cheating, I'm telling you man, give it a try.

I'm not disputing you, just misunderstood your first post. :)

Keep your head up eyes forward and your back should stay straight and not arch.

Jemal, do what scotty says, his advice has never failed me. Oh and good post, I was wondering that too.:thumb:
