I am currently training and dieting for a competition in June. So I wanted to get my body fat checked so I could really target my nutrition. The machine used was the Futrex 6100 a/zl. Anyone ever get a body fat analysis done by one of these?

Test Results
Body Fat 16.3%
Height 5'9"
Weight 233

Some of my other measurements
Arms 19"
Quads 27.5"
Waist 34" (working hard to get that down)
Calves 17.5"
Chest 49.5"

All these measurements will all come down as my diet continues which can be a little depressing but, thats bodybuilding.

:winkfinger: nice to see you setting a goal for a show in June. What is you ideal bf% for the show, and will this be your first?

Well my goal is to compete as a light-heavyweight which is 174 1/4 to 198 1/4lbs. I plan on going in close to max weight limit (195 to 198lbs). So at that weight I should be around 3 or 4% give or take.(hopefully lower if I can). I have done some small mom and pop shows in the past but this is my first NPC National Qualifier.

You're going to get down to 3 or 4% BF? Do you really know what that is going to take?

In 20 plus years around the NPC.. it's rare to see guys drop that low. I've seen some guys manipulate their skin down to 3 pc but only contain that # for a short period of time, or else it's walking death with what you have to do to dry out like that..

Not to count you out to soon, but it doesn’t seem realistic in the time frame. 4m pre contest training with over 10% body fat to lose seems like it will be too hard. I would plan for the show and if you aren’t ready a few weeks out consider it good practice, and spend the next 8m bulking till the next time you need to start precontest training. Good luck bro

Im gona give it my best effort to make the show but I,ve already considered not being ready. If I'm not then there are a few more shows throughout the fall I can try. And I'm not really relying on body fat levels as much as I am my state of mind and the mirror. lol. Just doing my best to look my best ya know. Thanks guys for your input and advice.

Gona work my ass off and see what kinda shape I'm in come June... I will keep you posted with pics, weight, and body fat levels throughout this adventure. Definately would like some opinions bad or good. By the way I am 42 and have been training for 18 years. Thanks guys

Solid physique bro! I bet at 6-8% bf you will have panties flying your way when you step on stage.

Hmmmm ... I'm going to have to think about that one

Here is a pic I took today. 11 days into my diet. (124 days to go until contest). Thoughts on what bf% you think I should come in at... am I delusional or you think I could be in good enough shape to compete.

You certainly could compete, try to hit the 7-8% mark. Don't try to cut by more than 600 cals under maintenance per day to prevent muscle loss. Keep us updated on your progress and what you're doing to cut weight in the meantime.
