I was just wondering which of the two books is more effective and actually works for hard gainers and people who want to gain mass.... Opinions anyone???

Go to the Diet forum/post your diet and solve all your problems :)

Anthony

I have both of those books on my shelf now. Body for Life is great for inspiration and general purposes of discipline, but thats about it. If your goals are to put on some muscle, Anthonys book doesn't waste your time with false claims. Either you will do it, or you won't. I would get it again, as his routines are the back-bones of my workouts.

Peace

thanx alot for the info guys...
Pierzin, does anthony's workout include cardio in it??

I absolutely agree with Pierzin. I got into fitness and bodybuilding via the Body for Life (BFL) Transformation movement 2 years ago (Bill Phillips). Being an independent thinker I always research other things too. That???s when I ran into Anthony???s bio on the web. In fact I think I may have been the first person to sling Anthony's name around here about a year ago since he really came across sincere and he had phenomenal results. His early linkage to BFL immediately made him like ???family??? to me. So I wanted him to be successful in his own marketing and started posting some of his links here to help him out. I also learned some ???inside??? info about the early days of the BFL movement as well from his postings as well as from personal contact with a few other early BFL champs I got to know personally (it really is a small world).

Basically if you are still on the fence about getting into fitness by all means get the BFL book. It???s amazing testimonials and before and after pics of REAL average people is simply amazing. To see terribly obese women become rock hard bikini clad babes that you would die to date is just too much for the human psychology to ignore. Bill Phillips is the master marketer and he knows how to get you motivated. But Bill???s focus is on losing fat ??? not putting on slabs of muscle. Certainly his principals can be adapted to that objective though. But Bill does not even mention this aspect at all in his book beyond one or 2 sentences. Anthony on the other hand is in a special ???niche??? part of the market. He was a prior skinny guy who wants to help hard gainers get big and he gets amazing results. His pictures and results are stunning and believable.

Bottom line: Get both. But if you are already motivated and really having a hard time gaining mass with an underdeveloped body get Anthony???s book and program.

Well ocean dude thanks alot for sharing your opinion, i really appreciate it. I have been weight training for about a year now. I'm 5'8 have gone from 135 to 150 and i have come to a plateau state. My goal is to gain 30 more pounds because I am quite not satisfied yet with my phyisique. Well I guess I am motivated now more than I think I would ever be and I have also read the bfl book. I guess I'll have to get a copy of anthony's book.

anthony ellis had no knowledge about resistance training or nutrition. that is why he was "skinny" for so long. he did now know how to train or eat. there is nothing revolutionary in his book just basic bb knowledge with some common sense thrown in....you can buy it but don't expect some sort of miraculous transformation..

Oliver,

As a general rule, no he doesn't include cardio unless you are cutting. If you're on for the hardgainer program, he will not recommend any cardio at all. At least that's all I cared about.

When I got my book, everything was all mapped out, very easy. Eat this here, eat that there, workout here workout there. With my copy I also got two workbooks, one for weight loss, one for gaining mass. I was on his message board for a while with another alias, (hehe) but stopped going there.
What I learned through that was, if you're not making progress, don't quit. Eat more. rest more. Follow the workouts. But don't train more. Most people can gain if they eat 20x their weight in calories. For me, that's 30x my weight in calories. I don't know when or if my metabolism will ever slow down(I'm 33 now), but that gives me the freedom to eat whatever I want. hehehe!

Since then life has taken a few turns for me, and I'm making it happen after another fashion.

Highly recommend it.
