Just curious and maybe taking a poll: How many of you feel that drinking can affect your gains? I know that some feel NO booze at all is the answer. Me? I have at least a beer each night and on the weekend a J.D. on the rocks. Hey don't answer this thread unless you are over 21......lol!

Ok Ok Don't mean to offend, but in Bodybuilding .com I got a ton of answers on this one right away. lol

I keep my drinking too once or twice during the weekend so say Friday night maybe one or two drinks on Saturday evening, I never drink on days I train

Drinking definitely affected my progress. Not only gains department but endurance and strength as well. My diet was also affected

Drinking hinders progress.

Keep it to a minimum, or cut it if you can.

I drink maybe 1 or 2 days a week, often a week or 2 without a drink tho, working alot helps me keep my focus lol

You guys are sounding like planet fitness. I'm 16 and the only way for me to ever fit in with a popular crowd is to drink. I however am to dedicated to bodybuilding to give in to peer pressure and I'm 16. I should be effected most, but I cut it out completely but not as sacrifice. One or two is still pointless. Beer tastes like shit anyway

Honestly this is such a vague question it's not worth answering. It depends on your goals and what you are trying to achieve. If your goal is to get to 5% BF and competing on stage and placing in shows, then any alcohol is not a good choice at all (occasional of course is fine). If your goal is to be sloppy fat at 250 lbs and bench press 405 raw, then whatever, you can probably drink every night. I'm laying out the two extremes to make a point.

Fact is... alcohol converts to estrogen. Alcohol is catabolic (muscle wasting). Alcohol reduces natural testosterone. Alcohol dehydrates you. Alcohol is loaded with non-nutritional calories... I think the choice is clear. Avoid it as much as possible.

I admire you don't let peer pressure influence you. I am WAY older then you, but I remember those days. Maybe try a rum and coke, then next a ice and water, and sip the hell out of it. Then repeat. You can nurse those for a few hours. By then you friends will be so wasted, they won't even notice if you are keeping up.

Drinking is never a good thing, I would do it very sparingly.

Since when is being a dedicated bodybuilder caring about fitting in with the popular crowd?

If you are serious about training there's no room for alcohol. Dorian said he could count the number of times he drank while competing on one hand.

i cant train like this but i have a buddy who drinks heavy two to four nights a week and still benches 405lb max and a 495 squat NATURAL! wtf lol hes a freak i guess. i drink maybe every other week and it all depends on the amount if i drink a little ill eat a bunch of shit, sleep well and train great the next day, if i drink heavy i sleep shitty, dont eat and have no desire to train the next day, as for gains im sure any alcohol is not conducive to building a perfect body
