Ok. I was looking at this wonderful 24 oz of Miller Lite, and noticed it claims 96 calories per 12 oz. And it only has 3.2 g carbs and less than 1g of protein with no fat at all. How do you get 92 calories from that? You can't. What is the real deal?

You're forgetting the alcohol. Alcohol has 7 calories per gram. So about 80 calories, or 83% of the total calories are from alcohol.

its not the calories or the carbs thats the issue, as stated its the alcohol.

for athletes the side effects can be less that desired and not only have an effect on bodyfat stores but much else such as decrease strength, impair cordination, dehydrate, increase fatique, negatively impact protein metabolism, depletes of many vitamins and minerals and causes sleep interferances.....

:nanner: Mmmmmmmmmmmm Beer :nanner:

So what exactly is the downside Jen? j/k :shake: :D

You shouldn't worry about the calories. Alcohol is a poison which has to be detoxified by your liver. When you drink alcohol you are slightly poisoning yourself. Enjoy :cheeky:

Oh live life a bit. A few beers every now and then is not going to hurt anyone. Lighten up!

If you all want to live your life in a hole have it, I for one will not! I'm going to enjoy life. It's too short to worry about such minor things.

Being healthy is a lifestyle it doesn't have to be a prison though.

Exactly Jodi. And also, have any of you seen the positive effects of moderate alcohol consumption? Pretty impressive. The air we breathe is likely to be more unhealthy than drinks in moderation.

I didn't realize alcohol had calories. What other things contain calories?

I never said not to drink, I just mentioned that Alcohol is a poison. If you are counting your calories that closely and being very percise in that manner then you would probably want to consider other factors that affect results.

IMO, almost anything in moderation isn't going to hurt you. A couple of beers, a few slices of pizza, ... I was only intended to consume a specific amount alcohol and I reached that point several years ago.

Unless you are cutting for a competition I see nothing wrong with enjoy the simple pleasures in life such as good food and alcohol every now and then. I'm not saying making it a daily thing but moderation is the key and enjoying these things every so often will help you mentally in the long run sticking with a healthy lifestyle overall.

i agree completely. i have my vices on saturdays ..... alllllll of them. :D

Remember, alcohol calories are the only type of calories your body cannot use. So you know where stored energy goes?

I was going to head out this weekend myself but that won't be possible. I'll be living life next weekend though :rocker:

If some people tend to get drunk easily, does that mean they can die from alcohol poisoning faster aswell?
