I know this sounds like a dumb or paranoid question, but for the record, it won't stop me from lifting if it does cause cancer. Everything seems to cause cancer anymore, so why bother caring if I get it.
Does the microtrauma caused by intense bodybuilding in muscles over years (25-30yrs) make cancer more of a threat to those cells?

Are you serious?

Also, you should think hard about what is important to you (i.e. life) if you'd continue.

Now does GH and steriods? That's a different question altogether.

I am serious :)

Thai kickboxers have a high mortality rate of shin cancer due to the trauma of kicking trees..lol, seriously. It only seems natural that damaging muscles could cause cancer over many years. Or are muscles somehow protected from this? (the question I am really asking I guess)

Being in shape for the now is what is important to me. Being afraid of what may be in the future is silly, and in 25-30 years Medical advances will be more advanced and things like this will be easier preventable or even curable, worring about it is pointless really, but curiousity made me ask :D

I can't say I'm familiar with any form of muscular cancer.

I'm sure it exists, but neurons and muscle cells are notoriously resistant to such things. If there is such a thing, its exceedingly rare.

I am not sure it is appropriate to compare the trauma from kicking a tree to the natural process of tearing down of muscle fibres through weight lifting.

Now if each time you lifted you literally tore the muscle belly, that may be a better comparison....

More muscle = more free radicals.

But this can be said for anything really. For example, If i had three arms i'd have more free radicals being released than i do with two, all others things being constant.

No but staring at your screen thinking about can give you brain cancer.
