Hello all.

I am very skinny as you can see, due to a fast metabolism.

Just wondering if i ate lots of carbs just before bed (usually do anyway) would it be detrimental or benefit to my health?

I want to gain healthy weight and not bloat up (I actually eat a lot even if i don't look like i do).

Should i just eat protein later? (i.e: chicken on it's own) Or should i have a plateful of pasta with it?

It's not a big deal but just wondering if too many carbs at night is slowing down my metabolism?

Would be nice to see some inputt to this.

It depends....

Eating a huge bag of lollies is probably not the best idea for you - but eating some carbs, as long as they are well balanced and meet your requirements, will not be detrimental in the least and can help with either weight loss or weight gain goals.

I would do neither - I would add some vegetables/fibre to both meals - and some healthy fats as well (nuts, olive oil, seeds, fish oils or avocado).

Either way - as long as you are happy with your results, then that is what matters. So if you need more energy/calories then add some carbs to your last meal.

Not in the least - if anything, carbs will speed up your metabolism.

im glad to hear your thoughts on this emma, because ive recently added a half cup of oats to my pre bed meal, (.5cup oats, 1 cup cc, 1tbsp pb) to help increase my calories.

:thumb: Good stuff.

Don't fall victim to the BB myths (eg: fruits are bad, dairy is bad, carbs are bad, carbs at night are bad, fats in the morning are bad, you need whey first thing in the morning at all times, you need 50000g of protein... Argg... The list goes on)!!

Just be sensible, eat well, train hard, rest and watch....

thanks

but they are NOT myths fruit and carbs before bad is a nono for contest diet.

I was just asking what's the deal with carbs in the off-season.

Thanks Emma you are right with your answers just wanted some reassurance, thank you.

i agree with emma. a balance of fats, proteins, and carbs are the way to go. i believe eatting fruits would not ruin your results, as long as youre not eatting a lot. do eat it with the skin though, thats where all the good stuff is :thumb: i read somewhere that it takes 50 oranges for an average person to maintain his/her weight.
