Cardio on off days?

While bulking.. is it good or bad to do some high intensity cardio for about 20 mins with an ab workout on offdays? I dunno.. figured this would keep you a bit leaner if ur gaining too much fat and also increase ur metabolism... opinions please!

this is a highly debated topic, there are two sides to this coin. cardio while bulking sacrifices precious calories. then you may be hindering gains while you are trying to gain weight. if you eat clean youll stay lean. but if your diet isnt "perfect", im sure mine isnt, you can add some cardio in to your routines to try and keep on top of things. however i would do it on lifting days, after you lift.
 
if u did an workout 2-3 days a week after your workout wouldnt it be "over training" since your abs are considered a muscle.
incline weighted sit ups= 3x15
crunches= 3x30
weighted swiss ball sit ups= 3x15
on top of a regular work out..and on top of a 20 minute HITT routine. i think it would be better off on an off day.

well the calories isnt much... about 400 cals since its high intensity for 20 mins... id just go home and refuel after that... what im basically trying to do with this is get my metabolism up a tad
 
at your height and weight you shouldn't have a hard time putting on LBM while doing cardio several times a week. personally I always do cardio. I don't see the point in being big and out of shape.
 
Yea having a healthy heart normally is a good thing. I really like HIIT cardio makes me feel real good.

that's when I always do it. non-weight training days for me are abs, calves and cardio.

Alright sweet, thanks guys... i have two offdays per week.. so ill be sure to do cardio, abs.. and a calf workout on one of these two days.
 
Also, i was thinkin of gettin on the rugby team ... would this interfere a whole lot with my size gains? ... would it be ok to do this and just up the calories... leaning more towards upping protein since rugby games are pretty long and vigorous.. i dont want muscle deterioration
