Hey,
I'm almost 18 male, 5'11, 161 1/2lbs . I've been going to the gym like for the past two months. About 3 times a week for 1hour each time. I'm getting pretty bulked for the short amount of time. I notice improvements in my arms big time! However i've always had a pretty good build. But need some ways to get rid of my "b**ch" tits and flabby abs.
my chest has form and 85% of it is muscle but theres that fat that makes them look bad. My abs are about 70% muscle, and the other half also make them took bad. So i need some help! post anything that you think is of value to me! I eat pretty good, I got it down for the most part. i eat tons of tuna and chichen. okay amount of veggies, and I drink about 6 12oz. glasses of water a day. If i do eat out it's like subway or something like subway. No fastfood fried places. Hardly any junk food, including pop.
HELP ME!!!!! thanks
~JC

i think you should do some cardio.. like running/walking for 20-30 mins

Subway is still lots of bread, bread = carbs = if you dont burn it off = fat

To see your abs some if it is going to require needing more muscle, but mostly its bodyfat covering it up.

Lightman009: yes I do have some flab on me :(

For the record. I HARDLY EAT OUT! So that subway is like once every 2 months. okay heres my typical day of eating. {Side note: i wake up at noon go to bed at 3am}

Breakfast: 1cup oat meal(pain oats none of that fruit flavored stuff.) eggs-3white 1-yolk. and then like Orange Juice. and some grape nuts.

Snack: Like a shake with a spoon of Peanutbutter in it. OR a turkey sandwhich. Or a Peanutbutter and Jelley Sandwhich.

Lunch: 4oz. Chicken or 1can of tuna(water packed, and I eat it right out of the can). Fruit(banana, peach, grape or something like that). Salad with very very little dressing.

Snack: SAme as the first

Dinner: 7oz. of chicken, side of brown rice. Some kind of veggie. and glass of Milk

Also I always drink water! So Prince IF you have any good diet plans that are pretty safe let me know.
I hope this will help you guys and gals out Thanks a LOT. Cause I have the genes for getting big and i notice improvement but i have that body fat covering up my chest and abs :(
Thanks!

Also I work out 3times a week. Tues-Thrus-Sat one hour each time. Just lifting medium weight.
I'd like some help if i can get some, thanks!!!!!

peantbutter and jelly sandwitch is a :thumbdwn: but otherwise looks good... maybe need some more protein i think and also do some cardio

IMO it is not one's usual, everyday diet that makes them fat, it is the infrequent lapses in judgement they make that skew them from their diet. Basicallly what I mean is that most people have decent diet plans, it is just the little things such as snacking and breaking from the diet too frequently that cause problems.

Now:

Define "some grapenuts"

Define "very very little dressing"

How big of a spoon of peanut butter, a heaping tbsp or an exact tsp? I know what a heaping tbsp is for me and it equals about 10 servings ;)

Define what type of milk you use and what size glass you drink it and the oj out of.

Hey, i'm moving this to the Online Diaries...

I personally love subway when I have no choice but to eat out. How much would you have to workout or do to burn the carbs in a 6" sub. If you eat there at say noon should easily burn them off, by the end of the day. dont know just curious how much work it takes to burn #g carbs.

thanks

The problem isn't just the sub you ate but adding it to the rest of the calories you've consumed during the day.
I don't have a table of how fast you burn Calories doing cardio, maybe someone has.

As long as you have say a 500 calorie deficit for the day though then no carbs would get stored as fat would they?

thanks

Are you sure you are eating in a caloric defecit? Do you know how many cals you need for maintenance?

If you are underestimating your cals and overeating it doesn't matter if you aren't eating carbs or not. You are still overeating which means that you will be gaining weight.

My last post P-Funk was a question not a statement. I was curious if you counted calories for that day and had a 500 calorie deficit would any of it turn to fat.

Ok say I eat 3 subs in one day and get the calories count from subway.com and it comes to a total of 1200 calories that day. Now if you require 1800 for just doing nothing that day will any of that turn into fat?

Yes I know it was a question.....and I replied with another question. I wanted to know if you knew what you needed as far as daily calories go.

Now to answer your question.

If you need 1800cals a day and you are eating 1200 cals yes you will lose weight. A caloric defecit=weight loss

Thanks I was just curious. I was just using general numbers is all to find out how long before carbs turn to fat. I wasnt sure exactly.

I notice everyone uses a day for figuring this stuff. Lets say someone eats as many carbs as possible in the morning and then works out that night. Would any of that turn to fat with say 10 hours turn around time from when you ate all the carbs and when you worked out that night to get a calorie deficit. Ok not sure if I explained this question so you can understand. But Thanks

huh?

I think you should read the best nutritional threads in the diet/nutrition forum and find out how carbs work.

Why would you want to eat all your daily carbs in one meal anyway? What benefit does that have to you?

No benefit but I was just curious if they would put fat on because they wouldnt be burning all those carbs untill later. wasnt sure how long the body stores those carbs for energy during the day untill it turns it to fat and says I dont need this. hehe I dont do this or recommend it but just curious is all.

If you are eating in a caloric defecit you will be losing weight.

Ok thanks P-funk for the info and help. I wasnt sure if it was possible to gain wait with a calorie deficit or not with a bunch of carbs.

Thanks Nick

The reson carbs, quantity and quality, count when you are eating in a caloric defecit is because:

a) your calories are low so you have less room to work with. If a lot of your calories are coming from carbs then you are not giving yourself enough room to get the necessary amount of protein and fats that your body need.

b) Lots of carbs, especially high glycemic ones, lead to lots of insulin. Lots of insulin does not help you on your quest for a healthy or healthier lifestyle.

One thing I'd add to it is if your getting your daily calorie intake from just the 3 meals, your metabolism is going to slow down and your more likely to convert more of those carbs into fat.

And even though you may be calorie deficient, it doesn't stop your body from using muscle for energy if it needs to since your not eating the right foods.

This really won't do all that much because during such a short time period you will not be buring fat. If you want to burn fat, you really have to be going for an hour an a low intensity.

Sorry but I disagree, the body doesn't just decide after a period of time to start using fat for an energy source, many studies have shown that HIT type cardio for 20-30 min is the best for burning fat.

What actually happens is that your body starts using blood sugar and it gradually moves over to fat. After 20 minutes are you are stilll in the blood sugar zone.

Sorry spire, I don't agree.
The body doesn't use one source of energy at a time, it uses the combination of sources which will vary depending on the level of intensity you are going at.

I agree, but I maintain that the amount of energy coming from fat at the beginning of a cardio workout is low and gradually increases as time goes by.
