No, I don't think bodybuilding is a vain sport at all you are bettering yourself which isnt vain. There are many people in bodybuilding however that are vain.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 COR 6:19-20
As for temptation I think the Bible goes hand in hand with what a clean lifestyle should be and how bodybuilders should live. I know personally when I had major problems with alcohol my relationship with God was very weak and I was lured into poor eating habits and my training suffered.
I'm not trying to convert anybody with what I'm saying, I think everyone finds their own path to what people believe in. Its just my opinion
