close grip bench press

Muscle Gelz Transdermals

Elbow to wrist relation might be a better description, or "shoulder width." I like anything from forefinger where the grip begins, to pinky on the ring.

yup. I don't believe there's anything mysterious about grip width for close grip bench. Shoulder width, such that the upper arms come down close to the torso is the right width.

there are a few videos on mucho sucko of powerlifters benching big and they have their grip wiiiide. anyone seen this? they are way wider than shoulder width.
what gives?

does anyone have this exercise in thier regimen? if so can it really pack the mass on all heads of your tris?

Its one of my favorite tricep exercises, especially done on the smith machine.

Mucho sucko?

Wider than shoulder width is called a regular bench press. The maximum legal wide grip is forefinger on the ring, thats not that wide - I have gone wider but I am 6'2". I dont go wider currently because its not legal, so there is no point, and it can be dangerous.

well iguess i need a new tranier.....lol

You should, I can't imagine pressing my max and balancing myself on the bench at the same time.

Close grip bench is the only way to gain strength if you ask me.

I don't necessarily agree. Though I am going to be throwing these back in soon, in 3 months I have gone up 35lbs in skullcrushers by every week just doing 1 acclimation set (skulls), 3 heavy sets (skulls), and 3 heavy sets (cable pushdowns).

Mmmhm. I am now skullcrushing more than half my bodyweight... I'd be AFRAID to NOT have my feet on the ground during that.

As far as skullcrushing, I know alot of people do not lock their elbows at the top, because they don't wanna shift the weight from their triceps to resting on the bones and joints. Instead, I personally DO lock my elbows out, but I keep my humerus pointing about 10 degrees back from vertical, so that, even locked, my triceps MUST stay flexed hard to keep the weight up. I like to skullcrush that way, keeping upper arms relatively stationary, and lowering the bar just below the back of my head so that my biceps and forearms squeeze together and I can't stretch further. The range of motion is key IMO.
