I work out and my muslces are getting bigger but i still need to lose a little weight. i was wondering if counting calories is really important or do i need to look at how much protein. ive started eating tuna for lunch.

Start by reading the stickies. In order to lose fat (fat, not weight!) you must be in a caloric deficit so yes, counting calories is important to a degree while cutting.

yes and no, post your daily diet, or an example of it meal by meal...if you are not able to do that then you need to start by coming up with a solid diet/nutrition plan.

I really dont eat a certain thing each day. i eat something small for breakfast and either tuna or a subway for lunch and what ever i get cooked for me for supper. and i eat protein bars and take protein shooters. i really dont know what i should be eating. any help or suggestions

Depends on to what degree you want to follow things, and how much you are willing to commit.

Personally, I think the best bet is to take it slow, and make decisions that you can implement immediately, and something that you can stick to. To me that would be healthier food choices and meal planning. Ride that train for a while, and learn how your body reacts. If you want more, then start looking more indepth, ie counting calories.

Eating properly doesn't need to be a complex thing. Especially if you are just looking to live a healthy lifestyle.

Really truly.

The classic example is the guy that skips a meal and just has a packet of peanuts as a snack... You know, to lose weight n stuff.

Most people are pretty shocked at how many calories they eat, usually way higher or way lower than they might expect or at least compared to recommended levels. Anyone who takes their diet seriously needs to monitor for a couple of weeks if only to know what they're currently eating. From there you can adjust.

Some people don't eat enough and thus their body stores fat at every opportunity. If such a person cuts down on their food or "portions" it aint gonna help them much. Others eat roughly the right calories but their macronutrient ratio is way off (while watching test users of my software I've seen people, with no deliberate intention behind it, who have 70, even 80% of their calories from carbs, most of it junk).

You don't HAVE to know how many calories you consume nor set any target - but it's a heck of a lot slower trying to figure it out without some hard figures in the first place.

Protein shooters?

Now THAT sounds like something I'd be interested in. :thumb:
What do you mix 'em with?
