well 5 weeks into cycle and 25 kg added to bench and i have strained a tenden in my shoulder near the collar bone. it feels like last time i did something in my arm which took 2 - 3 weeks to come good. any tips on healing or is it the "dreaded" end of cycle and just have to wait till next time !!! what a shame i keep waking up in the morn hopeing its gone away, o well next time, i had some bloody good gains though.

that's a very common injury to people who use AS...the muscles of the shoulder get stronger than the surrounding tendons and liagments, usually happens when the anterior deltoid gets overworked...

not much you can do

When I cycle I am going to lift within reason. I notice that even on a good PH cycle you tend to push and strain more. I am sure you would gain would trying to push yourself to the absolute limit. I realize this is probably very hard to do since most of us probably push ourselves even off the juice.

It's Damn.

Sorry man! I do that quite a bit on PH's. Get excited about heavier weight and then overreach. Like LAM said, your muscles get stronger than your tendons and ligaments, but that's not all. The AS actually weakens your tendons and ligaments so you have to take that into consideration before lifting heavy when on.

Actually, "damned" :-)

IMO and I'm sure not everyone will agree with me, but I don't think lifting more is going to get you any bigger. I say this because I don't think that strength has much to do with size of a muscle. I see little guys at the gym all the time that lift heavy as hell and they are not muscle bound. I think some people are just stronger then others, but that doesn't mean their muscles are going to grow bigger. I think you have to lift enough to put the right amount of strain on your muscles to trigger growth. This is obviously different for everyone. For instance I do curls with 40lb dumbells and have almost an 18'' arm, and next to me is a guy curling 50lbs dumbells and has 15'' arm. What gives here?

I think body makeup does play a role, muscle fiber percentages etc, seems logical. I like heavy for some lifts and not others, heavy benching seems to screw me up honestly, so I like no lower than say 5 reps for a last set and starting no heavier than 8 reps, if I start out doing 3 reps and dropping say 10 pounds per set, it seems to mess me up the next week (a whole 7 days later).

When I go heavy like back work I usually go low volume, so I am starting to see the HIT way of thinking a little, when I do heavy deads for a handfull or less reps, I do one set, two tops.

If you look at the pros though, heavy lifters are the big guys. Mike Francois, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman... Big food, in their case big drugs, + big weights = big.

I used to see Craig Titus and Tom Prince training together at the gym and oh dear lord it seemed EVERY day was heavy day. I never ever got used to seeing that much weight on the bar etc. Freaked me out every single time.

Dont know Titus that well other than his supposed rep as a party boy, Prince seems pretty cool, he is honest about what goes on (at his own risk). Titus is happy with his size where Prince is a bit more of a freak.

I've never so much as spoken to Titus (just seen him) but I did have a few brief exchanges with Tom. He seemed like a very cool guy to me. He used to joke around w/my ex before he started his workout. His arms are very very freaky (at least to my eyes)

Yep he is pretty darn thick, I have heard from one other preson also that he was very cool to talk to. Some guy conversed with him for about 10 minutes on GH use...

I think for everyone light on somethings and heavy on others is the ticket. You have to find out what works. I have watched some DVD's where I lift more on somethings then certain pros...I am sure without a doubt if they wanted to they could lift way more, but they probably feel the lighter weight is doing more. I think that the drugs and huge diets play the biggest role in the BIG guys being so big. I read somewhere that ronnie takes like 31iu of GH a day. I am sure thats not all he is on either. That is INSANE.

Isn't prince the guy that fucked up his kidney's? Doctors said it was from all the asprin he would take before workouts for joint pain. From my understanding he is still using gear even with his body all messed up. Sounds like a real rock to me.

I thought Prince was fine but I dont know his story that well, about all I know is he is pretty open about use, and he does post on Chad Nichol's board.

In a lot of vids that you see pros lifting, it may be their 5th set, etc Plus if its pre-comp they often lift light weights. Lee Priest hurt himself incline pressing 4 plates when someone bumped the bar, I know I dont incline 4 plates.

yeah I'm sure the pros can press some serious weight. I would love to press 4 plates flat, incline, or decline for that matter. I just don't think its needed to press mad weight and over due it in order to grow. That is how people get injured. Cutler says that he doesn't push too hard in the gym because he can't afford to hurt something. Granted he is still lifting heavy compaired to most of us, but then again he is a freak too.
