well im a newbie with leg workouts... and i know that i keep my back straight while i go down on both exercises. but is it normal to have a little soreness in my lower back?

maybe just cause im just starting out on them? maybe i have a bad back?

i dont really think its my posture, because i pay really close attention to it. Im not doing that much weight either, i go 40, 70, then 100 lbs. yes im weak haha

im 17 years old 5'7, and about 150 lbs if that helps.

Pretty sure that's normal for deadlifts, it's supposed to work your lower back and hammies. Not sure if that's normal for squats though.

It's just muscle pain right, not spinal pain? If it's spinal then there's something wrong.

hmm maybe it is just the deadlifts that are doing that to me. whats the difference between spinal pain and back pain? its not really a pain though, more of just a little soreness... it really doesnt feel significant at all

i just wanted to be sure since the back is pretty damn important, and i dont wanna mess that up at this age.

Hmm... If it were a spinal type pain, I believe when you moved certain ways there would be a really sharp nerve pain. If it's just some tenderness/soreness then that's probably fine.

squats and deads always tighten my lower back.

But then it could be because I'm getting friggen old.

I feel it in the lower back with squats and straight leg dead lifts. Mostly with the deadlifts though, I like that feeling.

so a little tightness/soreness is normal?
absolutely its normal with deadlifts... MY lower back is always sore after a session of deads. If it's happening after squats, I would be more concerned that your form could be a little bit off.

Be sure you're differentiating between soreness and pain though. It should not be "painful". Muscle soreness is normal.

I always put as many days in between back and Legs as possible, as I love to squat and deadlift but they are hard on my lower back

my lower back gets pretty nice and pumped form deads and squats. The next day I have some muscle soreness sometimes but not like injury pain, more like the way my quads are sore from squatting.

I want to increase my squats and leg presses but im afraid to put alot of weight on because I would like to have knees when im 45.. any suggestions?
