I never use a belt,if you start training without a belt you'll build a strong enough back to not need one.Check my gallery,i can deadlift and squat over 500lbs without needing a belt.
Thats cool...to each his own. I can dead the same weight with or without a belt, but I prefer having one on to keep the stomach in tight on all lifts where intra-abdominal pressure is great. It's more for my abs and less for my back.
But anyway, if you have success doing what you do, keep up the good work!
I stopped using a belt for squats and deads a while ago and am glad I did. My form is much better and I don't have concerns about being too reliant on it.
I do full Deads, only Sumo style with an EZ Curl bar (the shape of the bar prevents me from banging up my shins!). Stiff legged deads just seem physiologically dangerous to the back........
