I am going to the derm this friday and would like some input on which medication to get. My shoulders, upper arms and back have taken a good hit of acne since I started my tren a month ago. Its not completely horrible but not great either. A couple big ones on my shoulder and plenty of tiny ones. Even at 31, i still get one or so on my face at least once a month. Have been battling it since my teens.

Should I push for a full dose acccutane treatment, low dose accutane treatment or one of the other pills they have?

Thanks for any help guys!

They might start you up on a antibiotic. Make sure you tell them that you eat alot because there some antibiotics that you will have to take on a empty stomach. And as a Bodybuilder, when are our stomachs empty?

But if you do push for the accutane and get it,go for a low dose since your on aas because you dont want to stress your liver much more.

I used roaccutane many years ago....all my acne just disappered. Now I get some acne from time to time. But be carefull with roaccutane, its a pretty strong medicine and goes hard on the liver. Be sure to take liver support!

at one point i was going to go to the derm for AAS acne but first i bought Vitamin b5 (Pantothenic Acid) in powder form and used a tanning bed.

10 grams of vitamin b5 a day coupled with a visit to the tanning salon once a week cured my acne.

Personally after seeing the affects of accutane on my GF, I would never use it. Maybe they gave it to her at too high of a dose. She didn't even have a bad acne problem.

The doses they used to prescribe were WAY too much. Once the low dose trials came out they realized that they were overdosing the Accutane.

20mg Accutane daily for 3-6 months will usually clear things up. I prefer low doses myself.

If you go this route, be sure to start it at least a month before a cycle or after a cycle. The acne will get worse before it starts clearing up.

Tren is the worst AAS for causing acne.

Heavyiron is dead on for the dose and duration, plus at this dose the sides are minimal for most.

I would just get some from a research site instead of going through a Dr.

Yeah it was about 3 years ago that she got on it. I'll see what they perscribed her and get back with yall. A little 120lb girl shouldn't be taking too much I would imagine.

Back then the doses were insane. I imagine they had her on 60-80mg daily.

Thanks for all the info guys! I have battled acne on and off since I was 14 so if some kind of dose of accutane will pretty much take it out for good, then im definitely gonna push for it.

I have a mild case of rosacea and my derm gives me some form of tetracyclene. It clears up any acne or blemishes (I only get those during that time of the month). Don't know if that would mess with GEARS.

I remember years ago, going to donate blood plasma. One of the questions they asked was "have you ever taken accutane for acne?". I'm not sure of what it had to do with anything, but they would defer you from donating if you had ever taken it..

I asked her about it last night. She didn't know the exact dosages that she was taking but I'll tell you what she said so you can decide for yourself.

She said she started on 1 pill, whatever dosage that might be. And that they had her take that 1 pill for four months and when she went back to see the Doc they wanted to up her to 60mg (She thought). During this 4 month period on 1 pill, she suffered: severe nose bleeds that lasted hours at a time, cracked lips, EXTREME sun sensitivity, dry heaving and she said she was very emotional. Like almost to the point of tears one second, then pissed off at the drop of a dime.

However she also told me that she knows other guys who take it and it didn't affect them near as much as it did her. She said in general, men have less problems with it than women.

Thought I would share this info with y'all. To me it seems weird that all of these things are popping up about accutane. Such as the plasma donating thing, I see commericals for lawyers asking: "Have you or your loved ones ever taken the acne medication Accutane. If so you could be entitled to a medical claim." All of this stuff to me doesn't seem like it's even remotely worth it.

Do you do this repititously? I thought a "cycle" of accutane cleared up acne indefinatley. If it doesn't, then a person not on AAS that suffers from severe acne would have to be on it forever?

Ususally a one time run works forever. You might have to do a shorter lenghth run later on year or two but that seems to be it.

The problem is most guys don't run it long enough.

A person with severe acne would just use a higher dose for a longer period of time. Personally, I think anything more than 20mg for less than 6 months is a waste. Just my opinion.

Dosen't it sound fishy that the affects of the drug don't wear off? "One cycle and you'll never have any acne problems again."

No not really, there is a science behind the way it works. It basically shuts off the gland that produces acne in the first place.

Some guys have to run a second course. If you're going to be in the AAS game at some time or another (depending upon the overall size of the cycle, and as you get more advanced so do the dosages) you're going to run it.

I think your GF had a VERY bad reaction to it. A lot of guys who run 20mg ED just get dry lips and maybe itchy skin for a little while. Liver protection is a must when running this.

No, you have to be off of it for a while to donate as it causes birth defects. Same with finesteride.

Yeah she is quite the odd one :roflmao:

Shhhhh don't tell her I said that :dont:

So I went to the derm friday morning for my appointment. After she shot me with some drug that felt like fire to kill the wart on my finger we talked about my acne. Asked me a bunch of questions about what supplements I was taking and that creatine causes acne in alot of people. Anyways, she wanted to give me some topical benzol peroxide/anti-biotic. I told her I already use benzol peroxide wash and I was more interested in one of the orals and accutane. She said she wouldnt do accutane off the bat but she could tell I did some homework and would prescribe my Doxycycline 150 mg ed. So hopefully this shit will help me out. I got another appointment in 2 months to see how im doing.

I've had acne on my back all my life... even though I've never run gear. LOL. Doesn't matter how many showers or what kind of soap I use. It's always there.

My Derm at first prescribed an anti-biotic call Tetracycline. It works great, but the only problem is it makes you extremely sensitive to the sun and prone to sunburns. You have to wear sunscreen and stay out of the sun.

It also messes with your diet, because you have to take it 4 hours before or 4 hours after eating, which, for a bodybuilding, would suck, because I imagine you are eating meals throughout the day.

Because of the shitty conditions and sides with Tetracycline, my derm switched me to an Erythromycin cream. It was awesome and cleared up my shit great. The only problem is, you have to have someone else apply it on your back because you can't see or reach everywhere it needs to be.

I eventually stopped using it though, because like a dumbass, I read the included pamphlet that comes with the medicine and it said one of the possible side effects of the stuff was that it could mutate your DNA? :hmmm:

After that, I just gave up, and now I live with the acne. I don't give a fuck anymore.

Good luck brother.

Been in this exact same situation. All of the topical stuff would do some good but overall, it would just slow stuff down. 20mg of accutane for 6 months and I'm bulletproof.

Good luck, I've been in you position and I know it sucks.

As long as you have a Doc on your side, I think you'll be okay.

Thats my plan too.

Yea, I asked and we talked about accutane on a low dose but she wouldnt budge on prescribing it right off the bat. Thats when we agreed on the Doxycycline 150 mg ed.

Not sure accutane is given out freely like that. It's a pretty serious drug obviously. I think it's more of a last resort from what I've been told.

At least with my kids it was (last resort).

What dose did the DR prescribe for your kids? (I'm assuming they have bad acne)...

I'm not sure if 20mg/day would cure bad acne from teenagers, but it should prevent/cure mild gear induced Acne.

Lower doses way less side effects.

Can be purchased online without DR involvment.

I'll try and find out, as it's been a few years. Their acne wasn't brutal just very stubborn and them being girls, they wanted to do what they could for it. Insurance, in this case, was huge.
