People always got something to say about high protien bars so i wanna know what yall think about the Detour bar. I had one last night at work for a meal replacement and it was absolutly the best ever. Tastes just like a Snickers only a little more chewy. 30g protien, 10g fat, 310 Calories, and i just ate it with a glass of water.

they do taste good, but I would not use them on a regular basis. they are more of an emergency food type of thing for me...

Detour bars do taste great I agree.
But there's a reason they taste like a snickers bar... they aren't far off of being one.
Having one occasionally is fine but I definately wouldn't recommend adding them in as a regular meal replacement to your diet. :finger:

If it has sugar alcohol in it and I'm sure it does I wouldn't eat it on a reg basis. That's the crappy thing with protein bars, they ALL have sugar alcohol and other crappy ingred's in them. Be nice and alot more convenient if they came out with some actual healthy protein bars!!

Yeah. Not too often, but remember its better to eat than miss a meal.

once on occasion as a treat or if your in a rut and need to eat, they are fine. Daily or regular basis isnt ideal.

personally I dont even like them and find them overly sweet with all the sugar alcohols. :barf:

How can ANYTHING possibly be overly sweet  :D

alot better than a U turn, taste wise. But expensive and sugary

I prefer the Myoplex carb-sense bars.

it'd be nice if you could make your own, but I think I read somewhere that the protein in Whey breaks down or something when it's heated.

I had a myoplex carb sense bar and it sucked. It was creamy peanut butter, what flavor do you like?

That's sort of the problem, everybody has different tastes. I had the PB myoplex and thought it was fine (not great). I just bought some of the chocolate strawberry because they were out of the PB. I haven't tried it yet.

I like to only use a pbar when I am on a trip, where everyone isn't going to want to go and eat 6 meals with you...I try to eat healthy fast food(chicken sandwich, etc) for the normal 3.

I have always used nitrotech bars, even though I hate muscletech... the PB one sure does taste good albeit a bit high in sat fat...

vypro bars by AST are the best tasting bars and they have ZERO sugar.

1) That's not even possible.
2) Here's what their website says:

??? No glycerin!

Protein Bars

Has anyone else tried the Parillo bars? The place I lift swears buy the stuff, and they aren't bad. (More like taffy than anything, but a little dry.)

Also, I've been trying to get find the diff between sugar and sugar alcohol, but haven't found a good explanation. Any thoughts?
