I am interested in some advice on my current diet. I did my best on fitday to put up a normal days food for me and it's pretty close.

I am 39, 5'7" tall, weighed 174lbs. this morning. I started watching what I ate and exercising about 2 months ago when I was at 192.5lbs. I work out with free weights ~ 3 times a week (BP (3x5@190) & (3x3@215), MP, DB incline press, BB curls, bent-over BB rows, nose-breakers), ab work 3 to 4 times a week (3x33 sit-ups, 4x25 reverse crunches), fast walk 20min a day minimum. I haven't started doing squats/deads yet as I haven't joined a gym yet and am doing my work-outs at a neighbors house. Once I do I plan to do an upper body push/pull split and then split legs into quads/hams-calves for a 4 day a week plan.

My fitness goals are to lose BF, gain some LBM, and increase my overall strength in the basic compound lifts.

My diet from fitday looks like this:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

:D

btw the only supps I take are a MV and Omega-3 fish oil (2x1000mg daily with a meal).

Whats up dude, what part of NoVA are you from? I'm from Woodbridge.

Your fitday link isn't working. How many cals are you planing on taking in daily? You need to start deadlifting and squating asap. You should read the stickys in the Diet and Nutrition form also the Training forums theres tons of info on here, good luck.

Thanks for the reply! I live in Fredericksburg. I will definitely spend some time reading the stickies again to make sure I understand everything.

I will see if I can put up a better link to fitday but I my intake is right around 2716 cals atm. I'm not really trying to gain weight atm, just lean out where I am now. I have a feeling once I join a gym and really start doing things right (like you mentioned doing squats & deads) I might start to put on some weight if I up my cals.

I was just working with Fitday again and an average daily intake for me is 2,716 cal. I can't figure out how to post info from the fitday site, since I am logged in to the site my links won't work and I don't see a way to make it public?

thanks again for the reply!

Ya figure out your maintenance cals and experiment with it, see what works best for your body. Also come up with a good work out program and you'll be good to go.

About Fat

All types of added fats, such as butter, margarine, mayonnaise, sour cream and salad dressings, are reduced or eliminated. Foods high in fat, such as fried foods, snack foods, cheeses and red meat, should be replaced with lower-fat versions or eaten in smaller portions. Most low-fat diets call for an increase of carbohydrate intake in the form of pasta, breads and potatoes.Fat makes food taste better - it's sad but true. Therefore, if you try to eliminate fat from your diet, you end up with boring, bland meals, making it less likely that you'll stick to the diet.
